loudoun county: Got Hazardous Waste in Your Home? Feel Free to Dump it on April 26th! - 04/21/08 10:12 PM
Thats right!  On April 26th Loudoun County wants you to feel free to dump that hazardous waste off and get it out of your home to be properly disposed of.  The county has a fabulous program dealing with household hazardous materials which I don't think many people know about.   From March to November the county has monthly drop off locations at different areas through-out the county to make it convenient for people to dispose of anything  the trash company won't take or shouldn't go  into the county landfill.
This month's location is at Loudoun Valley High School 340 N. Maple Avenue, Purcellville … (2 comments)

loudoun county: March 2008 Housing Stats - Mixed Market Throughout Loudoun County Va - 04/05/08 12:53 PM
The Loudoun County housing market overall was mixed for the month of March. Overall, Loudoun County did see an increase in the number of homes sold since last month, which is definitely a positive. The market is still trying to recover from the credit crisis which definitely affected housing sales in August and September of 2007. Another drop in the market occurred in December of 2007. The average sales price continues to decrease as we head full swing into the spring market. Unless the number of homes selling each month increases, the odds of home sale prices stabilizing is probably not … (3 comments)

Gary M. Clemens, Loudoun's Clerk of the Circuit Court, announced that his office is working with the clerks of circuit court from the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, Fairfax County and Prince William County on establishing uniform guidelines related to the refund of the Northern Virginia Transportation Grantor's Tax paid on deeds recorded between January 1, 2008 and March 3, 2008.

The Virginia Supreme Court ruled that these fees and taxes were unconstitutional on February … (0 comments)

loudoun county: Higher Real Estate Taxes in Loudoun County - 04/02/08 12:19 PM
The Board of Supervisors adopted a new tax rate for Loudoun County on April 1st. The new real estate tax rate is $1.14 for every $100 of a home's assessed value. This is the highest rate for Loudoun County since 1981. The rate in 2008 was 96 cents.  Even with the higher tax rate, the Board of Supervisors said the county's public school system will fall short of what the School Board said it needed from county tax dollars. Homeowners won't be happy with the higher rate because most homes would sell right now at a price far lower than the … (6 comments)

loudoun county: Home Sales in Loudoun County - 03/22/08 05:45 AM
According to the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc., the statistics for February resale homes in Loudoun County were dismal. In the 20147 zip code of Ashburn, there was only 1 sale for the month of February for homes listed for $700,000 or more.  There were 46 homes on the market in the 20147 zip code during that same time period. Obviously, 1 out of 47 are not good odds. Unfortunately, the 20165 zip code of Sterling/Potomac Falls was even worse if it is possible. During the month of February, there were no sales in homes listed over $700,000 and 19 homes … (0 comments)
