Foreclosure filings are at the lowest in 5 years. Finally, the wave of foreclosures around the nation is much less according to recent reports by RealtyTrac. Their reports show that there is a decline of 7% in September from August and far below one year ago of 16%. The recent report shows that foreclosures are the lowest since the fall out in 2007.

Tulsa area foreclosures continue to decline month after month. Since July, repossessions in the Tulsa area are becoming less common, continuing a general downward trend. According to RealtyTrac, there were 572 foreclosures recorded in the Tula metro area last month.
The foreclosure rate now results in one for every 716 homes, which is 3.5% below June and 28.8% below July 2011. When compared to the state of Oklahoma’s foreclosure rate, Tulsa is still much lower. The City of Tulsa is having its annual spring surplus auction on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 9:30am. You will find over 170 vehicles in this spring’s auction. Vehicles will range from six-wheel all terrain to police motorcycles to John Deere Gators to an assortment of cars and trucks. There will also be a few low mileage vehicles in the big auction. A new survey shows homeowners are open to strategic default. According to the survey, a large number of property owners see strategic default as a good option if their home continues to depreciate. Close to half the homeowners who participated in the online poll say they would walk away from their mortgage obligations if home values continue to fall. The survey was conducted online by Housing Predictor with 1,000 participants.
