The Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7, with pre-parade ceremonies set for 9 a.m. at 1 Public Square in downtown Clarksville. This year the parade theme is "Honoring all who served," a tribute to veterans past and present. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of N. Eighth and College Streets, next to the Sundquist Science Building at Austin Peay State University, with the reviewing stand at Public Square in front of City Hall. The warm weather is here in Clarksville and along with gardening, our other passion is our Koi. It is so relaxing to sit out by the ponds and visit with our wet pets. Hundreds of volunteers will restore hope for local homeowners by providing free home repairs. The City of Clarksville Office of Housing and Community Development announced today that applications for the 2009 Good Neighbor Volunteer Home Repair Program are now available beginning March 2, 2009 through March 31, 2009. This year's program is expected to provide assistance to approximately 40 homeowners. Eligible applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. There is always so much going on around here. Between running our daughter to dance, Girl Scouts, trying to keep the house kinda clean, taking care of the pets, running by to visit mom, and most of all work! The business has picked up dramatically. Tim and I have had a good amount of referrals from friends and other clients lately. I love it, but it can be over whelming at times. I know many days can go by and I am so busy being busy that I forget how lucky I am. Today was spent taking a client from Maryland

The Clarksville Police Department is taking applications for the next Citizen Police Academy (CPA) class which runs from March 17 - June 9.Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The CPA covers all facets of the Police Departments activities from administration to tactical operations. Citizens are given an opportunity to not only learn about Police Department functions, but are afforded an opportunity to participate in activities such as: police vehicle operations, firearms instruction, self-defense techniques, and use of force decision-making exercises.
