national historic landmark: Liberty Hall Museum - 08/26/13 10:41 AM
William Livingston was the Governor of New Jersey from 1776-1790. He was also a signer of the United States Constitution.
He built a large country home, known as Liberty Hall, which still stands today.  There was a reward offered during the American Revolution for Livingston's capture and Liberty Hall saw many visiting British troops and naval forces. George and Martha Washington visited Liberty Hall at several times during Livingston's stay. Alexander Hamilton once called Liberty Hall his home as did US Supreme Court Justice Henry Brockholst Livingston.
