On Wednesday, June 21st, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Rotary held their installation dinner at Shackamaxon Country Club. The new president and board members were sworn in by Past District Governer, Mel Kevoe.
There were about 40 people in attendance as outgoing President, Carmela Resnick presented awards to several Rotarians for appreciation for efforts they made in Fundraising and Service. Later in the evening, incoming President, Steve Goldberg awarded his predecessor with a Paul Harris Fellow Pin as well as a framed Gavel for her service to the club and community, both near and far. Clark - July 4th Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School, fireworks at dusk, rain date July 5.
Cranford - Start the day wit canoe races at 8 am at the Canoe Club followed by the 9 am Firecracker Fun Run at Nomahegan Park. Rides and games with Eddie's Amusements at Nomahegan Park starting at 2 pm. Fireworks at Nomahegan Park at 9:15 pm.
Rahway - Monday, July 3 at dusk at City Hall. Rain date Thursday, July 6th.

On Thursday, June 1st, 2017 the Fanwood Memorial Library and the Scotch Plains Public Library are kicking off The Library Telescope Project in New Jersey! Both libraries received a donation of a fully outfitted reflecting telescope. The funds for the first two telescopes were donated by the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Rotary Club and the fabrications to the telescopes were made by members of Amateur Astronomers, Inc. (AAI) in Cranford.
The telescopes are modified Orion Starblast 4.5 reflectors. The telescope design was created by Issac Newton (these are Newtonian Telescopes) and are mounted on a single arm altazimuth tabletop mount. Several modifications were … (6 comments)

Scotch Plains 2017 Earth Day Celebration will be held on the Village Green on Saturday, April 22nd from 9AM to 12 noon.
Activities include:
9AM - Pick up shirts and clean up gear to help clean up various locations around Scotch Plains
10AM - Activities and Crafts on The Village Green provided by the Community Garden, the Garden Club, the Environmental Commission, the Public Library, and Giordano Recycling.
11AM - Let's Bloom Together presents VermiComposting for ages 3-10. Children will learn what leftover foods can be turned into compost.
There will also be free tree seedlings provided by NJ Tree Recovery Program.
