Many street names are decided upon deep within city hall, but how do they come up with what type of street it will be?
According to an article recently posted on mental_floss here's the reasoning behind the nomenclature.
Traditionally a road runs between 2 points (think town to town or county to county) while a street is traditionally a paved road with houses, buildings, trees and shrubbery within a town.
Here are the definitions for some other types of street names.
Avenue - Avenues are usually straight roads lined with trees or bushes. The idea is to emphasize arriving at a feature within the town.

On Saturday, March 14, '15 at 09:26.5359 the date and time will be the first 12 digits of mathematical constant π (Pi). That is 3.14159265359... Never again in our lifetimes (unless we'll be here in 2115) will the date and time make so many digits of Pi. I suppose that you could go more than a 10,000th of a second to get more digits.

Reports are saying that this February was the snowiest February that New Jersey has ever seen. We haven't seen our lawn for at least 6 weeks!
Yesterday the warming trend started and today temps peaked near 60 degrees! The snow is finally melting!
When I pulled into my driveway this afternoon I took this picture, to prove that there really is green grass underneath that white and grey blanket.

It's that time of year again where we set our clocks forward as we Spring ahead! We've been implementing Daylight Savings Time in (most of) the United States since 1918. There are about 70 countries that use it as well. In fact, Benjamin Franklin wrote about the idea all the way back in 1784.
So this coming Sunday at 2am, set your clocks an hour forward to 3am. Or you could just do it before going to bed Saturday evening or in the morning on Sunday. Most cell phones and computers will adjust automatically.

Since the beginning of January I've seen this cab driving around in Clark, Linden and Rahway. Does the driver have a sense of humor? Is he trying to tell us all something? Why is there a surfer on top of the cab?
Since I see this cab so often, I have to tell you, it makes me smile every time. I guess it's the thought that riding a wave beats working any day. Or maybe the message is something very different.

Yesterday after our Open House I took buyers out to look at several homes. Most were easily accessible, but two them, both flips, were not shoveled out from the wet snow we had the day before. Temperatures dropped into the low 20's and there was a layer of ice under the snow.
I was worried about a possible fall. I'm not the most agile guy, and with my bad knee I walk with a cane. I was also worried for my clients. I didn't want them to fall.
