Here are a few of the fine feathered friends we spotted at Mindowaskin Park this weekend.
Mindowaskin Park is on East Broad Street in Westfield and spans 12.6 acres. Lots of walking paths around a lovely lake make it one of our favorite summer evening spots.

westfield: Great news!!! Trader Joe's in Westfield is re-opening! - 11/30/16 08:26 AM
Great news for Union County residents!  The Trader Joe's store in downtown Westfield has rebuilt and is re-opening this Friday, December 2nd.  
The store closed in late January of 2016 when the roof collapsed after a heavy snowfall.  The building was demolished in February and construction began in June to rebuild the store.  
A sign showed up at the Trader Joe's in Millburn last week announcing that the Westfield store would be reopening.  
The Westfield store is an area favorite.  Get ready those Trader Joe's specialties!  Stock up on that Three Buck Chuck!!!

The pre-game ceremonies and show for the Super Bowl sometimes seems like it's WAY too much.  But this year, local fans have a reason to tune in.  
The Westfield High School Football Team will be highlighted in a segment titled "Before They Were Pros" at 11am on CBS.  The Westfield High School Football Team was undefeated this past season and won the North 2, Group 5 State Championship this season.
Several Westfield High School have had impacts on professional sports as well as business and the arts.  Some notable graduates are former NY Giants quarterback Dave Brown and former NFL players Butch Woolfolk … (9 comments)

Location Condition Upgrades Marketing The average Union County home that was sold in 2014 was sold after 66.6 days with the range in Days on Market from 50 days (Cranford) to 105 days (Linden).  Among the fastest towns were Fanwood with 51 days, Westfield with 53 days, and Garwood with 54 days. Among the slowest towns were Union with 96 days and Rahway at 85 days.

With the new year comes new data, and one of the most compelling numbers we've crunched this week has been the change in prices from 2012 to 2014. 
County-wide, the average home in Union County sold for 3.9% more in 2014  than the average home in 2012. Not every town, however, saw an increase and some towns were bigger winners than others. Garwood is the biggest winner over the past 2 years - the average sale price of a home in Garwood increased by 40% from 2012 to 2014. westfield: Good News For Those On The Raritan Valley Line - 12/19/14 04:57 AM
Today it was announced that on January 12, 2015 four addtional "one seat ride" trains will be available after rush hour.  One seat rides mean that you don't need to switch trains to get to New York Penn Station.  Until earlier this year all Raritan Valley Line Trains required you to transfer at Newark Penn to get to NYC.  The one seat rides are currently available beginning in Fanwood at 9:12am and ending with the 2:35pm train from New York City.
The new one seat rides will begin run between 9pm and midnight, although exact times have not been posted.

westfield: Projections are that MORE homes will sell in the near future - 12/10/14 11:17 PM
Recent reports have shown that the Real Estate Market is getting healthier.  In fact, throughout the country prices are appreciating at normal levels in most markets.  
This week a projection showing the total home sales from three different sources through 2016 was published.  All three are predicting more home sales (both existing and new construction.)
Three industry leaders were polled.  Economists from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Freddie Mac and the Mortgage Brokers Association (MBA) gave their projections.
The chart to the left illustrates the projetions.
Looks like the next couple of years will be busy!!

Four Union County towns made the list of the 50 safest towns to live in New Jersey, according to NJ.com.
Ranking at #33 was Scotch Plains, #34 was Cranford, #36 was Westfield, and #44 was Summit.
The criteria for determining the safety of a town were the 2011 FBI crime data in conjunctoin with local safety initiatives and security programs.

If you haven't seen the news, this year's School Ratings by Inside New Jersey has been published. Inside New Jersey is not the only school rating system but it is the first to publish their results this year.
