A day like this is why I love living in East Tennessee. The sun is shining, the trees are changing colors, and you can smell Fall in the air. With the temperature getting to the low 70s it makes it a great day to spend outdoors. Another benefit to living in this area during the fall is all of the events that are planned around the season. If you have never been to East Tennessee during October you are missing a color explosion. The Smoky Mountains are alive with color as the Fall leaves display their colors. Usually you can't get a room anywhere near Sevierville, Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg if you don't reserve them 6 months in advance. But this year might be the exception. With the economy still on the mends many of the hotels might still have some rooms available for those deciding on a last minute trip.
