Murphy TX residents can take back your drugs on Saturday, September 20 to the lobby of the police deparment located at 206 North Murphy Road. There will be several receptables to drop off your prescription drugs and they will be fully-attended but no questions will be asked regarding the prescription drugs. The time for the drop-off is between 10 am to 2 pm.

Just in time for Spring 2014 Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Store will open its doors to residents of Murphy TX. Braum's just so happens to be one of my local favorites and I am delighted to see them opening in Murphy.
Braum's offers more than delicious ice cream. It's like having 3 stores in one. They have a grill to make some of your favorite foods. An old fashioned soda fountain for getting all your favorite drinks and ice cream. And a market area that includes a dairy section, fresh produce and a full line of beef and pork.

Murphy Police Department will be participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Anyone wishing to safely dispose of unused or unwanted prescription drugs can bring them to the Murphy Police Department located at 206 N. Murphy Rd. between 10 am and 2 pm for drop-off.
A collection receptacle, fully-attended will be located in the lobby of the Murphy Police Department. Participation is encouraged for individuals, nursing facilities or any other facility that has a need to dispose of outdated prescriptions. Today's photograph is a vivid reminder that Spring has arrived. Not often do I have the opportunity to observe the storm's edge. It was an impressive site as the clouds rolled across the sky of Murphy in Collin County, Texas. As they continued their journey towards the east the light, blue sky of Murphy with fluffs of white clouds appeared. A reminder of sorts that this Spring season will pass and the countryside of Murphy will yield its wildflowers and green, green grass.

In a recent Murphy Police Department news release Police Lieutenant Adana Barber was quoted as saying “Police Departments around the nation all agree that they become better and more effective when the community participates by actively reporting crime, exposing suspicious behavior and eliminating the opportunities for crime to occur.”One particular program that the police department would like to make Murphy residents aware of is called the House Watch program. Homeowners in Murphy TX will be happy to learn that the water restrictions imposed by Stage 3 Restricitons are going to be eased a bit. The recent rains received in North Texas has elevated our local lakes namely Lake Lavon and Lake Ray Hubbard to levels at or above their normal range. Although Stage 3 Restrictions still do apply a once a week watering will be allowed for homeowners effective in April 2012.

In the late morning hour today a scattered shower came through Murphy dropping a lot of rain. It passed through about as quickly as it came leaving in a blaze. High Winds Blow Through Murphy TexasSunday night a thunderstorm came rolling into Murphy Texas (you can see the thunderstorm photo here) and it was not until Monday that the residents of north Murphy began to see the storm’s aftermath. It appears that the brunt of the storm came rolling across Murphy at the the intersection of FM544 and Murphy Rd. In this intersection on the southwest corner is a Walmart Neighborhood store, Jack-in-the-Box and Starbucks fast food stores. That sign is becoming a common site in the area. Many communities have implemented some sort of water conservation in light of the ongoing drought that has been plaguing Texas over the summer months. According to the local weathermen rain is not in our forecast over the upcoming week either.The City of Murphy implemented its Stage 2 Water Conservation on Monday, August 15th.
