Stowe Area Homes Sales Show Significant Improvement - 2nd Quarter Report 2013 The numbers are in and crunched. Based on Stowe Vermont Home Sales in the 2nd quarter of 2013 vs. 2nd quarter of 2012, the home sales market has improved for Sellers. I feel that this area is still a Buyers' Market, but is starting to shift towards sellers. In Stowe, the number of homes sold increased by 85%. Plus, the Median sale price increased 31% and Average sale price increased 44%. The inventory of homes available actually increased a bit by 9%. Stowe High School Ranked #1 Public High School in State of Vermont by U.S. News & World Reports Congratulations to Stowe High School located on Barrows Road in Stowe, Vermont! According to the newly released U.S. News Best High Schools 2012 rankings, only one school in Vermont received the Gold Medal and that was Stowe High School. 10 schools received silver medals and 4 received bronze medals. Stowe Vermont - After the Storm Photo The Stowe, VT area had some severe thunderstorms last Sunday night - July 29th, 2012. They hosted some strong winds, very dark and fast moving clouds, lighting hitting so close that you are scared to look to see if anything was hit, and thunder so loud you feel the house shake. Actually, I like thunderstorms - unless they are in the middle of the night. They usually mean the end of a heat wave. What I find so incredible though is "after" the thunderstorms. Stowe Weekend of Hope - Held in Stowe, Vermont During the first weekend of May (since May of 2000), the Stowe Weekend of Hope Planning Committee puts together a three day event in Stowe, Vermont. The weekend is jam-packed with amazing speakers, inspirational talks and workshops and exciting entertainment. Also there is a Green Ribbon Campaign of local businesses which donate 10% of their sales during the weekend to the event. Many of the hotel and inn rooms are free to the cancer survivors. 11 11 11 11 - in Stowe, Vermont - A Veteran's Day Salute! Today is November 11th, 2011 - thus 11 11 11. At 11:00 a.m. Stowe had it's annual Veteran's Day Ceremony. This event is always attended by a small group of locals who are always there. It happened to be a great November day with a partial sun and cool - around 45 degrees. It is known as New England's Largest British Automobile Show and Celebration. This year marked the 21st anniversary. The event was greeted by perfect September weather - sunny and 60 degrees with a touch of foliage starting to peep through. As a "local", this is one of my favorite events because I love seeing the English sportscars driving along the Rte 100 and 208 and I love the month of September. The Case of the Missing Flamingos - in Stowe, Vermont For the past two years, a flock of pink flamingos has been seen about the Town of Stowe. Now flamingos are about as indigenous to Stowe as polar bears are to Florida. The flamingos could be seen hanging out at Ye Olde England Inne, the Stowe Reporter, the Ski Patrol hut, the Stowe Community Church, Frida's, Blue Moon, FixPC, Commodores Inn and the Stowe Police Department. July 4, 2011 in Stowe, Vermont Well, the 4th has been over for a week now and I finally downloaded all the photos and videos I took. The weather was perfect, the town was packed with both locals and tourists. My camera was set with fully charged batteries and an extra card. The day was almost too colorful. I couldn't resist taking way more photos than I needed. And everyone seemed to be having a great time - including me! If you didn't make it this year, try and plan for July 4, 2012!

I HATE GRASS! And I'm not talking about the kind you smoke. It's only May and I am already tired of mowing. Vermont is known as "The Green Mountain" State but this is ridiculous! Vermont has had a record amount of rain in April and May. As a result, the grass is totally out of control. We used to hire someone to cut it from time to time, but that has gotten totally outrageously expensive. Our yard - $160.00 a mow. That really adds up! Halloween - Stowe Vermont Style Stowe, Vermont is a quintessential New England town. Our full time resident population is about 4,500. Most of the homes in Stowe are spread out - which makes it difficult to engage in the Trick-or-Treat ritual we all grew up with. Every year, the Stowe Elementary School kicks off the event with "The Ghost Walk". In the afternoon, all the kids dress up in their gear and parade through the Village of Stowe. Stowe's typical cars - Subarus and Chevys - become outnumbered by hundreds of tiny British cars - many with their tops down. The owners drive around with scarves, British hats and flags. July 4th, 2010 in Stowe, Vermont July 4th is packed with many activities this year. They include: 10:00 a.m. - The Moscow Parade - Moscow Village's "very local" event. It's also one of the shortest parades in American. Today's parade was festival as always. It featured the Ladies Marching Band (you have to be a resident of the Moscow area), political floats, animals, and Stowe Fire Engines, Rescue Vehicles, and my favorite - the sand/dirt truck which I love to see after a winter storm.
