buying a twin cities home: Today's Real Estate Term--What is a Buyer's Agent? - 01/08/18 10:00 AM

Buying a home is not an every day event. The average person purchases real estate once every eight years .Whether you are a first time buyer or someone who hasn’t purchased a home for several years, sometimes a refresher on real estate terms can be very helpful. I often notice my Minneapolis/St Paul buyers (and sellers) with a glazed look on their face when certain terms come up so I thought an online real estate glossary would be helpful. The real estate term for today is:
Buyer’s Agent An individual contracted by the buyers to represent them in the purchase … (1 comments)

buying a twin cities home: Draw YOUR Perfect DREAM HOME with Harold's Purple Crayon! - 03/28/13 07:41 AM
Decades ago, when I was first learning to read, I loved picture book, "Harold and the Purple Crayon" by Crockett Johnson. I wanted a crayon just like that little boy who drew out his dreams in his footy pajamas. Even though I have never been a fan of the color purple, I always wanted one of those special violet Crayola-type sticks of wax to draw to draw my dreams. Imagine life being so simple.

After many years of wondering whether the dream of owning a home was dead, the housing market has made a turn around. Due to … (1 comments)

buying a twin cities home: Is Buying a Home a Good Financial Investment? - 09/08/12 04:04 AM

“Is buying a home really a good investment?" That question is asked quite often these days especially as the real estate market continues to show signs of recovery. As the market heats up and there are more homes with multiple offers due to low interest rates, some first time homebuyers continue to wonder whether buying a home is a good financial investment.

For decades, buying a home was considered one of the safest investments a person could make. It was "The American Dream". But then came came the crash or burst bubble and people became more cautious about real … (5 comments)

buying a twin cities home: July 2010 Twin Cities Real Estate Market Video Update—Robbed from Peter to Pay Paul - 07/24/10 05:59 AM
Have you ever heard that phrase? Robbing from Peter to pay Paul?  That's the Twin Cities market in a nutshell. June 2010 pending sales are down 40% from June of 2009. The buyers from what is traditionally one of our busiest months, June were undoubtedly rushed into purchasing for the now expired housing tax credit. So those early spring numbers that showed so much promise, have leveled off….no surprise there. However there was one bright spot in the statistics, the average home sale's price is up and sellers are getting closer to asking price again. But there is no crystal ball … (17 comments)

buying a twin cities home: Attn Homebuyers: Going at it Alone is A Heavy Load Indeed! - 01/26/10 01:59 AM
Are you a homebuyer going it alone? A renegade who doesn't need the support and expertise of a real estate agent...at least not until you have found "THE" house. Is this the best plan to get the best deal on an Anoka County home in current real estate climate?
I read a great blog today that I wanted to share with home buyers (and sellers) in the north and east Twin Cities metro area. Will Nesbitt is a real estate agent in Fairfax, VA. As an arrogant east coast youth with Minnesota's own Fran Tarkenton as an idol, he challenged his … (10 comments)

buying a twin cities home: Is Two—O—One—O a Dyslexic Zip for Beverly Hills? No...It's an Opportunity to Change Yours! - 01/04/10 12:34 AM

A local television station raised an interesting question. Should the New Year be pronounced "twenty-ten", "two thousand and ten" or "Two-O-One-O". Frankly, the latter struck me as a dyslexic pronunciation of an eighties TV show revolving around a Beverly Hills zip code. But no matter how you say it, 2010 will be a fantastic year for a person to change their zip code...At least it will be in Minnesota. Here are a few of the reasons 2010 should be a great year to make your move to a Minnesota home:
Affordability-In Minnesota, homeowners get more bang for their buck. The affordability … (12 comments)

buying a twin cities home: Real Estate Investor? Home Buyer? Analyze the Cash Flow on YOUR Home Purchase! - 10/02/09 01:26 AM
When buying a home or making any big investment for that matter, a shrewd buyer will want to understand the long term value of the purchase they are making and compare this to the cash outlay over time. Smart investors will run the numbers to see what the return on their investment will be on any real estate purchase. So it would make sense that homeowners do the same thing. But how does a homebuyer or first time investor “run the numbers”?
RE/MAX makes that easy. If you are considering buying a home, visit the my webpage on the RE/MAX.com … (2 comments)
