fun photo: Speechless Sunday (Almost)--It's Hard to Hide an Elephant - 09/22/13 02:09 AM
You know the old saying about ignoring the elephant in the room, right? It goes to say, that an elephant can be hard to hide too.   This translates to real estate when selling your home. If you need to make a repair, don't just gloss over it. A buyer (or buyer's inspector) will find it. I have shown homes where substandard repairs were made by unskilled homeowners. It doesn't help. You have to make the repair correctly or "the elephant" will be easy to spot! Are You Ready to Make a MOVE?

fun photo: Friday Fun Photo--SMILE! - 04/26/13 12:36 PM

For a quarter you can get a close up view of the Lake Superior harbor and the bridges that connect Duluth Minnesota to Superior Wisconsin. If you turn the viewer around, it appears to be a happy face! The north shore had a record breaking amount of snow this April so is no doubt still snow covered but it was sure a beautiful view last fall!
Considering a move to one of Minnesota's 10,000+ smaller lakes?

fun photo: Speechless Sunday (Almost)--Neverending Winter on Lake Superior - 04/14/13 09:34 AM

Though I live about 2 hours south of Duluth, we travel up quite often to see the ships come into the harbor. This was the first time I have witnessed anything quite like this...but then this has not been an ordinary spring for Minnesota. We should have green grass and flowers by now but sadly we are snow covered this year.
After an unseasonable spring snow fall of over nine inches in Duluth Minnesota this last week, ships coming into port though the canal had to wait for icebreaking ship to guide them in and avoid damage. The snow … (5 comments)

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Sparkling Lights! - 01/09/13 04:00 AM

Because everyone needs a little more sparkle in their lives! I love how these lights hang from the third floor ceiling down to the floor at the Mall of America. Hundreds of bright lights twinkled and provide a beautiful backdrop in one of the many wings of the Mall. Located near the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport, this is one of the largest indoor mall's in the United States and it features an indoor theme park...perfect destination for all types of weather.

fun photo: Friday Fun Photo--Up Close and Personal! - 01/04/13 12:42 AM

We enjoy visiting our free admission zoo in St Paul, MN...the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory! It is an awesome place both in the summer and winter. From the time I was a kid it was our family gathering spot with reunions, parties and fun place to spend an afternoon. Last summer we got up close and personal with an ostrich that came to the fence to check out the camera.

fun photo: Friday Fun Photo--Thanks for the PJ's - 12/28/12 11:48 AM

This should probably be called the Friday Awwww photo rather than funny photo. One of our cats, Ginger, decided that the dog pajama bottoms were a gift for her about 2 seconds after they were opened by my son. As you can see, Ginger is quite comfortable on the flannel that was not even out of the box yet.

fun photo: Speechless Sunday (Almost)--Beautiful Light! - 12/16/12 03:00 AM

To find what is beautiful in the world sometimes you cannot just look forward. Often you will have to take the time to look up, down and past the obvious. This beautiful light fixture was hanging high above our heads in the Moroccan Village in Epcot. I love the stained-glass features and it's intricate beauty.
People are like stained-glass windows.  They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.  ~Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday (Almost) Let it Snow! But Help Us Find Birdseed! - 12/12/12 11:52 AM

After the first four inches of our 16+ inches of snow last Sunday in Ham Lake MN, we decided we had to dig out the birdseed for our friends. The black squirrel did an awesome job of digging out the center of the feeder so the male cardinal could enjoy his breakfast. We had to empty off the snow a few times but the cardinals did seem to appreciate it. They seem to be the only birds brave enough to go out in the storm...even we didn't venture out until Monday after the plows came through!

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday (Almost) Just a Little Batty! - 10/31/12 05:36 AM

Were you expecting a carved jack-o-lantern or cute costume perhaps? This giant fruit bat is one of many in the enclosed area at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. They were pretty cool to see close up...and behind glass. Have a very safe and Happy Halloween!

fun photo: The Right Treat is no Trick in the Halloween Capital of the World! - 10/25/12 01:18 AM

Halloween is on the minds of many this time of year and at a real estate closing there's no exception. In the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" we are known to be "Minnesota Nice" so when a home is sold by a traditional seller to a new home buyer, all parties sit down in the same room for the closing transaction. After all the signing is done, the title company representatives  leave the room to make copies of the documents and to prepare the checks from the final settlement. During this time,  home sellers take a few minutes to explain some … (4 comments)

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday (Almost) Divine or De-Vine? - 10/03/12 07:34 AM
I have always loved the look of ivy growing over a trellis and marveled at the beauty of home covered in vines. But when is a creeping ivy just too much of a good thing?  This photo of a store front in Stillwater, Minnesota shows this ivy almost completely covers the brick. One has to wonder whether the vine growth could be damaging the bricks underneath. So, what do you think? Is it divine or time to de-vine this building?  … (7 comments)

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday--Stretching 1400+ Feet into the Clouds! - 08/01/12 04:14 AM

Broadcasting wouldn't be the same in the Minneapolis/St Paul area with out these twin towers in Shoreview, MN. They rise about 1440 feet in the air and help get out the signal for Kare11, WCCO and KSTP in the metro area. Of course they are also a great way to get your sense of direction. When you see the Shoreview towers, you know you cannot be too far from home!

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Peep on Wheels! - 04/04/12 07:16 AM

With Easter arriving this weekend, I thought I would share the Peepmobile that quite literally rolled into the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota just a few weeks ago! I personally am not a big fan of Peeps candy, or anything marshmallow for that matter. But I did think the bright yellow VW bug with the giant Peep on top was worth taking a photo to share!
Have a wonderful and safe Easter weekend!

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Welcome to Minnesota! - 02/01/12 07:11 AM

It's February 1st in Minnesota! So maybe you were expecting photo covered in snow and ice. Well, this winter has been so extremely mild, I figured I'd share a summer photo from the Train/Maroon 5 concert that was held in September at the Minnesota State Fair. Maybe I should be embracing the Winter Carnival events of this week rather than a summer event...but the ice sculptures have melted.
Anyone considering a relocation to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area but are afraid of Minnesota winters can rest assured that we often have some nice warm above freezing days in the dead … (5 comments)

fun photo: Speechless Sunday(Almost)--Picture Perfect House at Como Zoo - 09/04/11 02:38 PM

As far back as I can remember, this stone house has been a part of the Como Park Zoo. I don't know if the building was ever a working water wheel but from the discoloration, it probably was at some point. Now, it is just a beautiful back drop for this colorful flower garden. It is near the entrance to the zoo from the Conservatory Parking lot across from the outside Oraguatan exhibit. Como Park is unique as admission is still FREE though donations are gladly accepted.

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--It Survived! - 06/08/11 09:23 AM

In Minnesota we have a choice with our hibiscus plants, bring them indoors and hope they survive the eight months of less-than-ideal weather for tropical plants or rebuy them in the spring from Linder's or Bachman's. Up until last year, we chose the latter. But last fall we decide to take the plants in off our Ham Lake front porch and they survived,..though a bit ragged as our cat enjoyed chewing on the foliage. This was the first flower in late April after months in our somewhat cold sunroom. The conditions were not perfect but the plants survived.

fun photo: Speechless Sunday(Almost)--Even Walt Would Have to DECLUTTER! - 04/03/11 11:31 AM

Any good real estate agent would have to suggest decluttering and packing the collection before putting a house with a room like this on the market. For the record, this isn't a client...it is just a quick photo we took on vacation of a display in One Man's Dream in Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, FL.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Very Happy and Prosperous 2011 to all my friends, clients and readers!
For all of you that saw my last holiday post with a very miffed looking lolCat in an elf hat, rest assured this holiday season will be "hat-free" for Muffin! We don't make him wear the hats for long...just long enough to snap a quick photo!

fun photo: Speechless Sunday(Almost)--lolCat Goes After What He REALLY Wants! - 11/21/10 09:55 AM

To get what you want in lfe sometimes you have to get your feet wet or in this case jump into the lake with both feet all paws!
Though it is doubtful Muffin's submarine costume will help him to find fish in any lake, it would have been an aggressive move toward what he really wants in life! (Note: The cat was really stretched out on the couch just trying to wiggle his way out of the doggie Halloween costume his owners picked up on clearance to torture photograph him.)
In this real estate market, you need to jump in … (14 comments)

fun photo: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Need a BIG Jolt of Caffeine? - 09/29/10 02:32 AM

A tanker full of COFFEE heading north on 94 through Minnesota? My husband and I thought it was pretty funny to see the truck as we know a few people who would think this was just enough caffeine to get them through the day! (And they are not all REALTORS® either!)
