wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Vintage School Transformed - 03/11/15 09:00 AM

Last spring I drove past an old elementary school I attended in 2nd and 3rd grade. It is located in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood of St. Paul's east side.  We lived kitty-corner from Mounds Park Elementary in a duplex that no longer exists due to freeway expansion. Yet this historic school house stands. It is one of the oldest educational building in the city and has been transformed years ago into affordable rental housing. The beauty of the old red brick school house brings back memories of our principal, Mrs. Winter, who monitored the lunchroom to make sure … (10 comments)

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost) Let it Snow! But Help Us Find Birdseed! - 12/12/12 11:52 AM

After the first four inches of our 16+ inches of snow last Sunday in Ham Lake MN, we decided we had to dig out the birdseed for our friends. The black squirrel did an awesome job of digging out the center of the feeder so the male cardinal could enjoy his breakfast. We had to empty off the snow a few times but the cardinals did seem to appreciate it. They seem to be the only birds brave enough to go out in the storm...even we didn't venture out until Monday after the plows came through!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Angry Bird - 12/12/12 11:26 AM

We are fortunate to have Blue Jays, sparrows and a variety of wood peckers along with a cardinal couple that live in the pine trees in our front yard in Ham Lake, MN. We have left out birdseed for the past few weeks for the birds...but the squirrels think we are feeding them. The suet was gone and one of our cardinal friends stared into our front window with a look that demanded attention!
Yep...I hurried out to feed the angry bird!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Misty Moon over Ham Lake MN - 12/05/12 04:42 AM

Last week before daybreak I had to hurry outside to catch a glimpse of the hazy mist surrounding the full moon. It was about an hour before the sunrise and the moon was peeking through the trees in the backyard of our Ham Lake home. There is so much beauty in a winter moon I just had to share it!

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Accidental Art - 11/21/12 05:52 AM

Some of the best things happen accidentally. My husband was juggling the camera for me and accidentally took this photo at the Mall of America earlier this year. Architecturally it is a pretty awesome shot of Nordstrom's second floor entrance from below. I can only imagine how crowded this area will be come Black Friday...or at Midnight on Thanksgiving when they open their doors. It will be in my imagination because I have never attempted to shop the MoA the day after Thanksgiving due to the crowds. They set an attendance record last year and I for one have … (13 comments)

wordless wednesday photos: Wordless Wednesday--Stretching 1400+ Feet into the Clouds! - 08/01/12 04:14 AM

Broadcasting wouldn't be the same in the Minneapolis/St Paul area with out these twin towers in Shoreview, MN. They rise about 1440 feet in the air and help get out the signal for Kare11, WCCO and KSTP in the metro area. Of course they are also a great way to get your sense of direction. When you see the Shoreview towers, you know you cannot be too far from home!
