It seems a bit delayed but I believe summer has finally reached us in beautiful Central Oregon. Yeah!! Spring seemed to bypass us this year but I'll settle for summer if I must. Winter was a mild one and summers are always gorgeous, so no complaints here. I love living in Central Oregon with all it has to offer, including it's quirky little weather patterns!

visiting central oregon: Holiday Starlight Parade - Downtown Redmond, Oregon (LOCALISM FEATURED)
- 12/01/08 06:23 AM
Thanksgiving has barely passed and we just couldn't wait to usher in the Christmas Season! What better way than Redmond's annual Holiday Starlight Parade! The parade, held in Downtown Redmond, Oregon, starts at dusk and is filled with beautifully lit entries of all shapes and sizes. Even the horses had twinkle lights! Although I've lived in Redmond for eight years, this is my first Starlight Parade and I must say it couldn't have been a better first. The weather was unseasonably warm with only a light jacket needed. And just in case you got a little chilly, many local merchants had (38 comments)
visiting central oregon: Sunny Central Oregon
- 11/17/08 05:21 AM
It is a gorgeous day in Central Oregon! For the second day in a row we can expect 70 degrees in mid November. That is a special treat not to be wasted! So what are the options?
How about a strenuous hike up Misery Ridge at Smith Rock State Park? Or take the kids on a bike ride through Redmond's Dry Canyon. The Deschutes River Trail is a great place for either a hike or a low key mountain bike ride. For a little more adventure on the mountain bike, try the Tumalo Falls Trail at Tumalo State Park. In "Welcome to Autumn in Central Oregon - Your Personal Tour" I took you on a guided tour of how to spend a day in the Redmond and Bend area. I had so many great pictures to share that the tour was starting to get a bit longer than some might like to read. So for those of you who would enjoy more photographs of the local area, here they are!
I enjoyed taking them and I hope you will enjoy them too.

visiting central oregon: Welcome to Autumn in Central Oregon - Your Personal Tour!
- 11/07/08 03:32 AM
One of my favorite times of year has always been autumn. The colors are so magnificent in many of our hometowns, and Central Oregon is no exception! So let me take you on a little tour and show you a few of my favorite places to visit. Maybe you'll be convinced to take a trip of your own!
Much of the city of Redmond is nestled in a valley and surrounded by nature's finest, including: the Ochoco Mountains, Smith Rock, Mt. Bachelor, and other members of the Cascade Mountain Range. Our high desert area is truly a diverse one.
So what is WineStyles of Redmond up to this week? (which brings us into November by the way) Wow, autumn is upon us already. Fortunately for us, that is a beautiful time here in Central Oregon. If you're not already here, you should come check it out!
This week's schedule of events include: Wednesday October 29th, Ladies Night! 4:30pm - 7:30pm Enjoy ½ price appetizers & wine by the glass for $5.00.Wine Club Members receive 15% off of wine bottle purchases & accessories, with a discount to non-members of 10%. Thursday October 30th, Wine Tasting 11:00am - 9:00pm Kelly Harrison (2 comments)
Last week I introduced you to one of our local gathering places, WineStyles of Redmond, which just happens to be in the same complex as my office, Desert Sky Real Estate, LLC. With free wine tasting for Wine Club members, I find myself "next door" once or twice a week. One of the things I love is the "Cheers" feel you get when you walk through the door. It is a rare occasion that I don't run into local friends and colleagues, or those I have met specifically through my wine tasting and live music adventures.
