grand rapids mi golf: Thornapple River Scenery at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club Ada Michigan

West Michigan has 4 seasons and fall or autumn is one of our favorites. The foliage on the trees is yellow, red, orange, shades of green, and brown. It all combines to paint lovely colors all over our landscape. We captured a few photos of the fall season here in Ada Michigan on the Thornapple River this last weekend. All were take from Thornapple Pointe Golf Club near the Gerald R Ford International Airport, just southeast of Grand Rapids. In fact, we joke that it is our TPC+B course here.......trains, planes, cars, and boats can all be seen and heard from the course. We (8 comments)
grand rapids mi golf: Kentwood Michigan Golfer Plays PGA 2009 Final Buick Open
- 08/01/09 09:05 AM
We all love a success story. This one is about a local Kentwood graduate, Matthew Harmon, who was Michigan's Mr Golf 2002-3, went on to play golf for Michigan State University and is now on the Nationwide and NGA Hooters Golf Tours trying to make it to the PGA Tour. He got a big break this week. Let us tell you his story: He was 4 under par playing his final qualifying round for the Buick Open when his caddy (and brother-in-law) Nick, stepped into a bunker to pick up a rake he was planning on using after Matt hit his shot and then raked his (0 comments)
grand rapids mi golf: Kent County Amateur Golf Championship July 11th and 12th 2009
- 07/05/09 07:19 AM
This is the kind of real estate I prefer to all others, especially on the weekend. No hassles, just blue sky, green grass, and an 18 hole challenge. I played at L E Kaufman Golf Course today. A Kent County public course in Grand Rapids that is rated one of the best courses in Michigan. It will host the the Kent County Amateur again this year on July 11th and 12th. I didn't play particularly well today, but the course was in good shape, and I had 3 new friends to share the morning round. I took a few pictures so (10 comments)
grand rapids mi golf: Crystal Springs Country Club has a New Look & a New Name
- 10/16/08 07:25 AM
For over 30 years I have been a member of Watermark Country Club. Recently the owner of Watermark Country Club decided to purchase another Country Club in our area and bring it back to life. Crystal Springs Country Club has seen a loss of membership recently and the course and facilities were suffering from neglect due to lack of revenue. Watermark's owners decided to buy it and bring it back to its former glory and make some improvements. The old clubhouse and pool were removed. This is the announcement of the new construction that is taking place to "Stonewater at Crystal Springs" (0 comments)
grand rapids mi golf: We Only Play Golf on Days that End in " Y " in Michigan
- 05/16/08 04:52 AM
In the Grand Rapids Area we are experiencing Spring, it is the time of year that my antsy-pantsy energy can be channeled to the golf course. Of course, like my title says, I only play golf on days that end in " Y ". There are thousands of golf courses in Michigan, really. We have more golf courses per capita than Florida, Arizona, or North Carolina.
Michiganders like their golf.
In Grand Rapids we have 59 golf courses within 18 miles, some are private, but 48 are either public or municipal. One of Michigan's (8 comments)
