west michigan real estate: Happy Endings Can Happen to You, Too!~Active Rain Directly Responsible for Latest Sale
- 06/15/09 07:42 AM
We recently received an email to show a home directly from Active Rain. This isn't so unusual but it was unusual that it was a listing we lost to another agent 6 months ago. It was a long story, we had it sold once but the buyer lost his job 3 days before closing. Anyway, the seller decided to try someone else, it is common in our industry and sometimes does the trick, especially if you lower the price!!!
The potential buyer told us she googled the listing address to see if she could find out more information. (8 comments)
west michigan real estate: Kent County Michigan ~ Great Buys in Waterfront Homes March 2009

Current market conditions have brought home prices down to levels we haven't seen in several years. All price levels and amenities have been affected. Now may be a great time to purchase a Waterfront Home. I have included a list of over 10 homes in Kent County Michigan in the $200,000 to $300,000 price range with private water frontage.

This recent Grand Rapids Press Article on the demolition of the 1983 $4.5 Million 12,000 Sq Ft Lake Macatawa-Holland Home of Richard DeVos of Amway is a typical example of this phenomenon. Apparently the family is going to build a bigger, better home on this "choice piece of land."
This article piqued our interest because of the impression it gives of the DeVos family and their concerns. This has to be one of the most expensive tear downs in (8 comments)
west michigan real estate: Transnation Title Goes Local ~ Good News for West Michigan
- 07/16/08 07:04 AM
Typically this story goes in the other direction. The large corporation buys out a locally successful business and relocates the core to their home offices, sooner or later. Here in West Michigan we have seen this happen frequently to some of our large local companies. Many long time employees lose their jobs, must scramble to find a comparative position or relocate. That is why this is so newsworthy! We are encouraged for the local area by this one reversal.... Do you think they have read " Small is Beautiful " by E.F. Schumacher?
