virgin islands: My Last day of Visiting Before Returning To The Virgin Islands - 11/16/12 03:25 AM
Well, I completed my shopping down to new outside lights to go on my home in the Virgin Islands (purchased them at Loews for less than half price on Island). I stopped by the parcel service store in Peachtree City and mailed birthday gifts to my son, sister and grandson. Shipped the lights and shoes to myself in St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. The postage was less expensive and more convenient than than trying to carry things in suite cases. I was also worried the lights having electronic wiring and motion sensor switches would be flagged by TSA.

virgin islands: Virgin Islands Based Credit Cards and Shopping - 11/15/12 11:05 AM
Whether you are shopping in the Virgin Islands, online or on the mainland one thing that is essential is some form of monitory exchange and many of us choose to use credit or debit cards.
Since moving to the Virgin Islands in February of 2004 my credit cards have had a billing address of the Virgin Islands, since I live and work there.  When shopping online you often run into the obstacles that the drop down menu does not offer the option of putting in the "Virgin Islands" as the state for your billing address and many companies will not ship … (0 comments)

virgin islands: Shopping on the Mainland - From the Virgin Islands - 11/14/12 11:03 AM
The Virgin Islands is a wonderful place to live. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, balmy weather year around, and open and accepting people. While there is an abundance of jewelry and liquor for sale there is a shortage of inexpensive shopping for clothes (other than shorts, bathing suites and flip flops) and household goods.
I have taken a few days after the NAR Conference to visit family and do some shopping before returning home to the Virgin Islands. I spent one day at the Orlando Premium Outlet Mall and caught some good deals as it was Veterans'  Day … (5 comments)

virgin islands: The Virgin Islands The Day After Christmas? - 11/12/12 11:25 PM
Well I feel like the day after Christmas, We small board folks, from the Virgin Islands, have been exposed to all the wisdom, knowledge and technology we could possible handle and more. There are three Realtors who are particularly close, we all work for separate companies, two of us own our own companies.
Last year we were inspired By Jack Canfield to start an accountability group. Creating visions for our lives, setting long and short term goals to make the visions a reality and meeting on a regular bases to adjust our goals and hold each other's feet to the fire.

virgin islands: Virgin Islands Goes to the NAR Conference - Entertainment in Orlando - 11/12/12 11:27 AM

Two nights ago -  the Virgin Islands Realtors at the NAR Conference.
The purpose of the Virgin Islands Realtors attending the NAR conference in Orlando, Florida, is for education, exchanging information and ideas with other associations, resolving governance issues and building camaraderie. Socializing can be a part of all of these goals.

Realtor, Karen Korsgren, encounters one of many characters from the theme park.
The entertainement and socializing has been enjoyable. For the Realtors Night Out, NAR brought out the Universal's Islands of Adventure from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm. The amusement park is filled with … (2 comments)

virgin islands: The Virgin Isands Goes to the NAR Conference Day 3 - 11/09/12 08:58 PM
The morning started at 8:00 a.m. with a breakfast meeting for state level president-elect members from across the country.  This s a great networking opportunity. It gave us an opportunity to compare notes on our successes and challenges. Incoming officials spoke to us about the reorganization of NAR committees which were actually increased in number from ten to sixteen. The meeting was concluded after a question and answer segment.
Deciding on which educational segments to attend is a challenge as there are so many to choose from. Fortunately, the schedule is distributed well in advance and you have an opportunity to … (3 comments)

virgin islands: The Virgin Islands Goes To The NAR Conference - 11/08/12 07:47 PM
This is a continuation of my last blog My co-AR bloggers Frank and Sharon Alters, of Flemming Florida are also at the conference and I am keeping an eye out for them.
Really important to me is the fact that my luggage showed up at the hotel at 3:00 am. Jet Blue sent e-mail letting me know it was on it's way to the hotel and when it was delivered. I was asleep, but saw them at 5:30 when I got up.
Last night's proposed dinner of Realtors from the Virgin Islands at the NAR Conference turned out to be only … (1 comments)

virgin islands: Election Day in the Virgin Islands - 11/05/12 09:08 PM
Most of us who are old enough to vote have a good idea of the sacrifices those who came before us have made for the right to vote. I consider it a sacred responsibility of each individual who is eligible to fulfill this duty.
I can still recall the excitement I felt the first time I was able to participate fully in an election. I called my father and told him I had just voted. He was a man with a very strong social conscience, but I think he was surprised by my excitement.
There are a huge number of candidates … (9 comments)

virgin islands: Renovating or Building in the Virgin Islands - 11/05/12 09:34 AM

In the virgin Islands, like in most place, home owners are constantly working on their property.  With all renovations you have to consider the impact on the value of your home. We have recently decided, to update the decking system on our home. Well, correction, it was a decision made a long time ago, the logistics of making it a reality was a bit challenging in the Virgin Islands. We purchased our home in 2004, prior to our purchase the deck on the home was torn off by a hurricane.  Although I have lived on St. Thomas, in the … (0 comments)

virgin islands: Stumpy Bay Beach, Legendary in St. Thomas - 10/14/12 11:57 AM
Since arriving in St. Thomas, I have infrequently heard people my age either ask about property near Stumpy Bay or refer to wonderful times they had while growing up going to Stumpy Bay. There was never a lot of details, just whimsical looks and soft knowing smiles. I have shown property in Estate Hope only once before, a raw piece of land. Estate Hope is located on the Western side of the island before you get to Estate Fortuna, people hold on to the property in this area. I had an appointment to show a home listed for only $249,000, hard … (4 comments)
