Don't be a big loser!

It's the new year and everyone is having a biggest loser challenge. People at work, the local newscasters and even my son has gotten a group together to lose big! They asked me to join and I said "no way am I weighing in front of anyone!" However, just like lots of other people I too need to lose weight. So which diet program do you choose? I have found, for me, it is not so much what I eat but, it is all about working out! I have to be at the gym at least 4 days a week and I would like to be there 6 days a week to really do well. When I work out, I feel better, mentally and physically and then I want to eat less! With real estate it is also all about what works for you! Today people are worrying about the economy and sales seem to be slowing on all fronts. We have been inundated with new ways to market ourselves. Several articles advocate getting back to basics. I couldn't agree more. Regardless of where you capture your buyers or sellers, eventually they have to meet you, shop with you and like you! So, for Tom and I what works is honest communication with the client and keeping up with market trends. Only difference is between real estate and diet is we don't want to be the biggest loser but a winner! And the bottom line is not about the amount of money that exchanges hands. Super Bowl

Sunday evening 1/18/09 Tom is busy watching the last 2 teams play off for a chance to play in the super bowl. Just a little bit ago Phoenix Cardinals won their game! We have relatives in Phoenix so we are very excited about their win. Tom keeps saying maybe we will head to Florida to see them play in the Super Bowl. That sure would be nice since it is cold here in Oklahoma! Now as I sit here reading blogs on active rain the the other game is over. Pittsburg Steelers have won and will be the other competitor in the Super Bowl. So we have a very exciting game ahead of us. Tom says that Phoenix has never even been to the Super Bowl and the Steelers have won it numerous times. Phoenix could feel a little overwhelmed and the underdog. But remember these are not the same players as in times past. So each time has a equal chance as far as I am concerned! I am not a fan of football either way, but I do like to see someone win against all odds. Because of that and my relatives I am going for Phoenix! Hey everyone! Vote for me to get to go to Flordia! YIKES! THERE'S A MOUSE IN THE HOUSE!!

Oh my goodness, as anyone who has sold real estate anytime at all, knows, showing homes to a buyer can be quite an adventure! A couple of days ago, Tom was showing homes to a buyer, his 3 year old son, his sister and his father. Well they came to this one vacant house that needed some work. (NOTE: Tom can be somewhat of a germ phobic) As Tom was opening the door he noticed a trash can in the middle of the living room. As he was turning on the light he saw a small mouse jumping up and down trying to get out. Well, he jumped back a bit and yelled, "There's a mouse!" The young boy grabbed his aunt around the legs, terrified. But Dad (the buyer) just walked on up to look inside the can.OUT JUMPED 5 MORE MICE THAT SCATTERED ALL OVER THE ROOM! AND Tom backed completely out of the house running over the buyers father to get there!! No one was hurt and they all had a good laugh!As I said showing homes can be quite an adventure. You never know what you will find or what will happen. But it can also be rewarding when you help a young family find the perfect home! Buy a house on a BIKE!?!

My husband recently began working with a new home buyer. When he found out the buyer was also a motorcycle enthusiast they found shopping for a homes a perfect excuse to ride bikes! A typical day shopping for homes included lunch at a local bike/sports bar and then a couple of happy hours looking at houses. They had a great time and made good friends! My son, Josh, soon joined in on the fun. The only disappointing part of the process was when the buyer found his home. Now they didn't have an excuse to go riding. But hey, a warm sunny day always works.Does this sound like a fun way to buy a house? Can your hobby be your work? YES!It's a good thing if you can enjoy what you do and do what you enjoy! Both of my children bought a home because, of course their parents are Real Estate agents. Smarter to buy than rent, right. It just so happens that within less than one year both of them found the love of their life! They were married within just a short amount of time. Is this a coincendence? Maybe this could be a new better way to find a mate than dating online. What do you think? I'm not saying you will be married for your home but perhaps it is one step towards maturity and making you a more stable, dependable marriage prospect.
