Bellingham's Edgemoor neighborhood has some of the finest homes in Bellingham. It is located in the southern part of Bellingham, close to Fairhaven and the South Neighborhood featuring Fairhaven Park, and west of Chuckanut Drive. The views from some of the homes in this area are just magnificent, the Bay, the Sasn Juan Islands and the gorgeous sunsets. Many of the homes in Edgemoor are on large lots with mature landscaping and feature Bellingham's most prestigious, well maintained homes.

bellingham wa information: More kudos to Bellingham - 12/13/07 11:54 AM
More kudos to Bellingham. In the Fourth Annual Farmers Insurance study ranking the most secure U.S. places to live, Bellingham came in No. 5 for midsize cities. The ratings took into consideration crime stats, extreme weather, risk of natural disasters, environmental hazards, threats of terrorism, air quality, life expectancy, and job loss numbers for 379 U.S. cities. The study was divided into three groups, large metropolitan areas, midsize cities, and small towns, Olympia Washington was No. 1 midsize city in the study.
It is interesting to see that they considered midsize cities as those with populations between 150,000 to 500,000. It seems … (0 comments)

bellingham wa information: Fairhaven Harbor gets a step closer to construction - 12/13/07 11:26 AM
One of Bellingham's controversial developments, Fairhaven Harbor, received their design permit allowing them to take the next steps toward building their project, which includes an 85-foot-tall tower.
The proposed mixed-use residential and commercial Fairhaven development is between Harris and McKenzie Avenues and Eighth and Ninth Streets. The project has been delayed by groups of opposing neighbors who wanted to limit the height of the buildings below the 85 foot level. The original designs was to include a 102foot tall tower. The city planning director considers this a good compromise and consistent with the character of Fairhaven as well as meeting the city's … (0 comments)

bellingham wa information: The Young Condos in Fairhaven's Historic District - Bellingham - 12/07/07 09:21 AM

The Young building is the companion and partner of the Waldron, which I mentioned in my last post. It is a newly built luxury condo that sits behind the Waldron and they form one condo association.  The building is in it's final stage of construction and some of the units are ready for occupancy and there is already a vintage clothing store open in one of the retail spaces. Some of the units have great bay, island and sunset views. The building fits in nicely with the rest of Fairhaven and is a nice addition to the neighborhood.

bellingham wa information: New life for an old Landmark in Fairhaven's Historic District in Bellingham - 12/06/07 10:13 AM

The Waldron building is one of Fairhaven's oldest and yet newest buildings. Originaly built in 1891 at the height of Fairhaven's first expansion. During that period Fairhaven was one of several cities trying to become the major West Coast railroad terminus, and Fairhaven saw it's first major expansion. Their were 35 hotels and boarding houses in Fairhaven at that time. It most have been soon after that Seattle got the railroads, as the top 3 floors of the Waldron were never occupied. The ground floor saw commercial establishments come and go. I remember the mid 1970's there very well as there … (5 comments)

There's actually grand opening reception today between 11 and 1 PM that is Friday September 14th. The buses will move back to their new home and away from the temporary location on State Street.
