You do everything you can to make your home presentable. 
You hire a great REALTOR. 
You procure a buyer who is willing to pay your asking price. 
You have a contract. 
You think things are good until the buyer reads something in the HOA rules that do not fit so they backout.
As a homeowner, you can not discriminate against anyone willing to purchase your home (and why would you) but your community association does every day with their rules.  Instead of saying they don't want a blue collar family in their neighborhood, they make rules to prohibit someone like that from living … (1 comments)

The concept is a good one.  With lot sizes growing increasingly smaller, the need for a uniform code is crucial to prevent a neighbor from devaluing many homes in a subdivision.  We've all seen it driving around...the one house painted a bright, obnoxious color with a few cars in the front yard and a couch on the front porch for good measure.  No one intentionally wants to live next to that guy.  However it seems that associations have eroded homeownership rights continuously as time goes by. 
A new trend these days are associations placing limitations on commercial vehicles in the community.  … (11 comments)
