cedar city real estate: Cedar City Subdivisions..College Vista II Dewey Avenue..Market Update..10/28/2011 - 10/28/11 06:58 AM
In the Cedar City Real Estate Market we have a few neighborhoods that have taken on their own personality.  Dewey Avenue is one of them, it is a unique neighborhood inside of the College Vista Subdivision.  It is one street two blocks long.  It is a very stable subdivision.  Only one home has sold in the past three years in this subdivision.  There are currently no homes listed for sale on Dewey Avenue.
Dewey Avenue is the only street in Cedar City that has permitted parking.  So don’t park on Dewey Avenue without having a home owner permit, your car will … (11 comments)

Today begins the Cedar City Livestock & Heritage Festival.  This is a two day event, tomorrow there will be a parade down Main Street which is usually a sight to see with old cars, restored tractors and of course livestock.  We have clients tomorrow who wish to look at homes in Brian Head, so we will miss the parade.  Here is a list of Today's activities:

cedar city real estate: Thankful Thursday...Fire in the Sky.... - 10/27/11 08:26 AM
I know that Fire in the Sky was the name of what is now an old movie, but I couldn't resist taking photographs of the sunset last Tuesday Night.  I couldn't think of a better title than this for these pictures.  I hope that you like them!

I really liked the colors in this shot.  I know that I used the shot in another blog, but I liked it so much that I wanted to include it with the other two.

Another look at the same sky.

One final shot.

cedar city real estate: Cedar City Subdivisions...GR Parry Subdivision...Market Update 10/26/2011 - 10/26/11 11:03 AM
The Cedar City Real Estate Market has some great subdivisions that have been very stable through the years.  The G R Parry is one of these great post War Subdivisions.  Many of the homeowners here have lived here for years.  It is a very centrally located Subdivision.  It is near the University and Main Street.
The GR Parry Subdivision is also in the Center Part of Cedar City.  It is near the Imlay Subdivision and like the last few that I have highlighted is near Southern Utah University.  This is a subdivision that was built in the early to mid 1950′s.

cedar city real estate: Cedar City Subdivisions...Max Lunt...Market Update 10/25/2011 - 10/26/11 10:48 AM
The Cedar City Real Estate Market has some great subdivisions that were built after World War II the Max Lunt Subdivision is one of those great, stable subdivisions.  It like F A Thorley is also located  just South of Southern Utah University.  It is a street or two East of the F A Thorley Subdivision.  It was built in the late 1940′s and early 1950′s.  This is also a great subdivision for the investor, as well as for someone wishing to live near the University.
It is a mostly stable subdivision, with only one home listed for sale in the MLS … (5 comments)

cedar city real estate: Wednesday With Some Words...Days Gone By.... - 10/26/11 06:27 AM
Here in our area this style of home was not too uncommon.  I am not going to say that it was a popular style of home, but it seemed like there were a couple of these in almost every town in Utah, especially in Southern Utah.  Many have since had a Main Floor and upper levels added to the basement to bring them into the more main stream style of home.  This particular home didn't quite make it to that point. It has been like this for the nearly 12 years that we have lived here, and as I remember, even … (35 comments)

cedar city real estate: Wednesday's Photo and Thought.... - 10/26/11 04:48 AM
I came across this quote and really liked the thought behind the quote.  It is the reason that we keep quotes and put them into things like blogs.  Our motivation is something that can use constant refreshing.  Anyway here is the quote:
"Motivation is like food for the brain. You cannot get enough in one sitting. It needs continual and regular top up's." Peter Davies
Motivation is one of the easiest things for me to lose, so I really do need to do what I can to stay motivated.

I hope that you stay motivated and make it a great … (8 comments)

cedar city real estate: Scenic Southern Utah....Shots From Our Area.... - 10/25/11 04:12 PM
It has been a while since I have shared a photo blog of the area, so I thought that I would do that tonight.  I will be honest, I have been so busy that I am hoping to catch up before NAR in Anaheim!  These photos were taken Monday as side shots from a BPO.  That is one of the by products of doing BPO's you sometimes find some other shots that you can take of the area.  I hope that you like them!

cedar city real estate: Wednesday With Some Words (and a little early)..... - 10/25/11 04:01 PM
This has been a hectic week to say the least!  It has been a good week albeit a busy one.  That is why it is important once in a while to stop and smell the roses or in this case, take in the sunset.  We have a storm front blowing through, so there are some wicked looking clounds out there.  Anyway, here is the photo, I hope that you enjoy it!

cedar city real estate: Saturday's Thoughts....Success.... - 10/22/11 12:52 PM
This has been a tumultous week for Darcy and I, a lot of changes and now a lot of extra work to do.  I would never have thought all of the work that is needed when you switch Real Estate Offices.  Just changing out the logos alone is something that I never realized how many places they are located and need to be changed.  It is all good, I came across a quote that I really like:
"What is the recipe for successful achievement? To my mind there are just four essential ingredients: Choose a career you love, give it the … (12 comments)

cedar city real estate: Changes.....Life is Good..... - 10/21/11 12:38 PM
A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post about introspection, today after much thought and contemplation we made one of the biggest changes that we could make.  We left behind a brokerage that we loved for a new opportunity in a brokerage that just started a little over a year ago.  This is honestly a decision that was nearly 3 months in the making.  We have landed at RE/Max Velocity in Cedar City, we are excited to be going from the number 1 brokerage in Cedar City to the number 1 brand in the World.
This is something that took … (23 comments)

cedar city real estate: This is Why We Don't Let Our City Cousins Play Unattended on the Farm..... - 10/20/11 08:01 AM
We were wondering where cousin Julie went!  Ma said not to leave the city cousins unattended during hay baling season!  Pa said that he thought that he heard some sort of thump on that last pass with the baler, but we had no idea!  It took hours for us to find poor cousin Julie!  I hope that Aunt Martha will forgive us!  At least Julie won't take up too much room now!

I saw this Halloween decoration and couldn't resist!

cedar city real estate: Another Worded Wednesday....More Rustic Charm... - 10/19/11 05:16 AM
I have a couple of more shots from my picture taking excursion on Monday that I wanted to share with everyone.  This is a stable or corral area.  This looked to be on the same parcel of land that the quaint fixer upper was on.  It too has seen it's better days.  This is just another one of the fun yet scenic things to see in the Cedar City area.

cedar city real estate: Tuesday's Photos...A Little Past it's Prime. - 10/18/11 04:52 AM
I have been looking for some great shots to take of old barns in our area.  I didn't find an old barn to shoot a picture of, rather this is an old granary next to an old feed lot with a loading shoot.

As you can see, this old granary is a little past it's prime.  There is probably still a lot of use left in it, it will just need some TLC, at any rate at least it has a nice view!

cedar city real estate: Cedar City Subdivisions...Grant Market Update.... - 10/17/11 09:16 AM
In the Cedar City Real Estate Market, the Grant Subdivision is another one of our mixed subdivisions.  There is a mix of detached single family homes with some duplexes.  The Grant Subdivision was built in the mid 1990′s.  There are quite a lot of investor owners in this particular subdivision.
There is currently one single family detached home listed for sale in the MLS at $95,000.
Market update 5/9/2011:  There are currently two homes listed for sale in the Multiple Listing Service one at $134,000 the other $149,000.  This has been a great little subdivision, especially for the investor market.  In … (5 comments)

cedar city real estate: Motivational Thought...At Least Something to Think About.... - 10/17/11 07:03 AM
How many of us find pleasure in our career?  Maybe a better question is how many of us find joy in our career?  This difference is something that I really hadn't thought about until I read this quote.  It really got me thinking about the distinction between pleasure and joy.  Here is the quote:
"A test of what is real is that it is hard and rough. Joys are found in it, not pleasure. What is pleasant belongs to dreams." Simone Weil
I like this quote, I find pleasure in some TV programs, watching Sporting events things like that, but I … (9 comments)

cedar city real estate: Cedar City Subdivisions....FA Thorley Market Update..... - 10/17/11 06:38 AM
The F A Thorley Subdivision is one of the largest subdivision in the Cedar City Real Estate Market.  It was built in several phases and is intersected by Interstate 15.  It is just South of Southern Utah University, and does go up on to Leigh Hill West of Interstate 15.  I am focusing on the area that is just South of the University.  These are great homes, both to buy to live in and to buy as investments and turn them into rentals for students.
The Subdivision is across the street from University Parking areas and the Tennis Courts.  These homes … (0 comments)

cedar city real estate: Let's Play Ball!!!! - 08/06/11 04:48 PM
Darcy and I are getting ready to go to catch the Dodger play the Phillies!  The best part is that the Dodgers are playing pretty well lately and the Phillies have the best record in the Major Leagues.  We are very excited to go to Los Angeles to see the game, it has been several years since we took in our last Baseball game live.
It will be nice to see Darcy's parents as well.  I am very excited for the entire albeit rushed trip!  Who knows, we may even have a little time to go to the beach!

Okay, … (15 comments)

cedar city real estate: Sunday's Musings..... - 05/22/11 02:18 PM
Sunday has almost passed, I love this time of year  Especially when it isn't snowing!  It has yet to really got hot here.  Just some observations from the week that is now passed.  We spent many hours the past couple of days at the Business Expo.  We got to meet with some wonderful people.  It was interesting to watch people walk past, the ones that didn't want any contact with Realtors.  They walked past ignoring us, even though we had a couple of nice drawings.  It was like they were afraid that we were going to pull them in and make … (4 comments)
