Wednesday marks the beginning of a New Year, but lets not forget, it is still a good time to purchase a home. Will you be able to move in by the first, probably (read not going to happen) not. That doesn't change the facts that it is a good reason to purchase. Rates are still low, there are some great options available (at least in our area), and there isn't a lot of competition for the homes that are out there.

After a trip to Supercuts and about an hour of exercise I am sitting at my computer, thinking about what I wish to accomplish next year. The truth is, I have been thinking about this for many days and weeks. Now is the time that I try to get really serious about the process. Nothing worth having has ever been built with some sort of plan.

I wanted to share some more photographs of the Christmas Lights in Downtown Salt Lake City. We have had a couple of big snow storms come through, which did a couple of things. It cleaned out he stagnant air and pushed out the really cold air, and replaced it with cleaner yet still cold air. I will admit that I am using muscle to shovel snow, that I haven't used in months!

Who doesn't love Barbecue? Well, if you do, this post is for you! About a week ago Darcy and I tried out a barbecue place in Bountiful, Smokin' Bones. The food was amazing! It is a little out of the way, but it was well worth the search! They smoke their meats on site which makes for extra tasty food!
I had the smoked sausage, I will admit I was expecting a commercially produced sausage. I was very surprised, it was a sausage that if it is sold commercially, it was one that I have never found it in a store. … (6 comments)

One of the great parts about writing this series of blogs to highlight why people should consider buying homes in South Davis County is the opportunity to explore and write about some great local restaurants. This is actually a restaurant that we have eaten at many times. It is one of Darcy's favorite Mexican places here in South Davis County.

Last night we went to downtown Salt Lake City. The Christmas lights at Temple Square are spectacular! Darcy braved the cold to take photos with the use of a tripod. They turned out pretty well, I wanted to share a couple with you

Looking at the Salt Lake Temple from the east. The mist rising off the reflecting pool makes for a fuzzy effect.

This one really shows the mist coming off of the fountain.

La Puente is another really good Mexican Restaurant located in South Davis County. It is located in Market Square in Centerville. The food is very good, I really like it. There are several La Puente restaurants located in Northern Utah. From my research, it is a local chain. The food is traditional Mexican Cuisine, so you may want to order extra tortillas, it is hot.

I have written a lot of blogs about Chinese Restaurants in South Davis County. I will admit to two things. I love Chinese food, and we have a lot of great Chinese Restaurants in South Davis County. Empire Chines Gourmet is perfect if you're in a hurry, and you feel like trying many different dishes. It is a buffet, but the food is like any other restaurant.

I took this photo the other morning from our back stoop. The sun's morning rays were just beginning to illuminate the overcast winter sky. It was a bitterly cold morning as I awaited our two dogs to finish their business, yet I thought, what a great time to remember that each day is a new beginning.

I have mentioned in several blogs that we're blessed here in South Davis County with several wonderful Chinese Restaurants. I have a hard time trying to decide which one we should eat when we decide to eat Chinese food. The Ho Ho Gourmet is another of the really excellent Chinese restaurants.

I wanted to include another of our favorite places to visit. This shot is from Torrey, Utah. It shows some of the breathtaking scenery that Utah is famous for. In the back of the photo is the Boulder Mountain. A couple of miles east from where this photo was taken is Capitol Reef National Park. Capitol Reef is one of the lesser known gems in the National Park system.

One of the great things about doing a series of blogs like this is the experience. By that I mean it has forced me out of my comfort zone and try new restaurants even when you like to eat at one restaurant. Fuji Sushi is one of those great restaurants. As the name implies it is a wonderful Japanese Restaurant specializing in sushi.

I have mentioned before that we have a lot of great Chinese restaurants here in South Davis County. So if you're considering a move to the area and like Chinese Food, you're coming to the right place! Today we are highlighting the Joy Luck Restaurant in Woods Cross. It is also an excellent choice if you like chinese cuisine.

This post is one of those quaint and fun restaurants that every community should have. The Bistro on Main is just one of those restaurants. It located in Smedley manner, which was built in 1893, it is a wonderful older home which has been retrofitted into dining areas. Some of the windows still have the old fashioned wavy glass. The dining area is intimate although there are spaces available to host groups. It is a great place for a breakfast or lunch meeting for an office.

I had an interesting experience in customer service this morning. I had a refill on a prescription for high blood pressure that was called in to the pharmacy at the nearby Walmart. This is a prescription that I had filled there less than a month ago. I got there to pick it up, (the prescription was sent over yesterday afternoon from the doctor's office) they couldn't find a prescription for me, they said that they had never filled any prescription for me. Well it is 9 degrees outside as I am typing (is that still an applicable word?) this post, so who wouldn't love a trip to the Islands? Rumbi Island Grill is just that although with Hawaiian cuisine along with jerked meats, I am not sure which Islands you would be going to! I do know that the food is excellent!
