As I have mentioned the one really fun thing about working in the Cedar City Real Estate Market is that we have several smaller cities that we work in. Parowan is one of those cities, it is also a City that is near and dear to me. My mother was born and raised in Parowan as was my grandfather. It is the county seat of Iron County and has a population roughly of 3000 people.

It is officially Summer, school is out, so that makes it officially Summer. It is a great time to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery around Cedar City. We would ask that you take extra care while you are in the back country. If you have watched the news at all, you know that it is fire season. Not only is it fire season, it is one of the worst conditions for fires that we have had in a number of years.

Garden Park Estates is one of the older subdivisions in Enoch. Enoch, as I have mentioned in other blogs is about 5 miles North of Cedar City. It is a great place to live, it has larger lots so your neighbors aren't right on top of you, and it gives you room to have your children play.

Country Star Collin Raye will be in concert at the Heritage Center in Cedar City on June 20th. There are tickets still available, so there is time to support this concert. Tickets may be purchased at the Heritage Center Box Office or by calling 435-865-2896.
Collin Raye has had such hits as “Love Me”, and of course “I Think About You.” This should be a great show! Come on out and enjoy some good music! The nice thing about the Heritage Center, as far as concert venues go, is really an intimate setting, every seat is a good seat!

One of the great things about working in the Cedar City Real Estate Market is that we have the ability to work in several small towns along with Cedar City. One of those great small towns is Kanarraville. Kanarraville is South of Cedar City and a little East of Interstate 15. There are still some farms in Kanarraville along with some really amazing houses. West of Kanarraville and Interstate 15 there are a couple of developments with custom homes on 20 Acre parcels. The Cedar City Summer Lunch Program is up and going and beginning on June 6th Enoch will have the same program for kids. Children up to 18 can get a free sack lunch Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Main Street Park in Cedar City. The program in Enoch which will begin June 11th, will be available between 11:45 AM to 1:45 PM at the Liberty Park, 27 West Midvalley Road.

In doing updates to my series of subdivisions in the Cedar City Real Estate Market, I realized that there are several great subdivisions that I had overlooked initially. Spanish Trails is one such subdivision, it is in Enoch. It is a mixed subdivision of “stick built” and manufactured homes. The subdivision dates back to the late 1970’s but there are several new homes located there as well.

Cross Hollow Hills is another great subdivision in the Cedar City Real Estate Market. Cross Hollow Hills is just South of the North Ridge Subdivision. It is South and West of Cedar City, it is also in the County. It is an older subdivision, by that I mean that it has filled in a lot more than North Ridge, it was built in the late 1990′s and early 2000′s.

It is at the Northern edge of the City’s boundary. It is another of the subdivisions that was built during our building boom of 2007. It is also the one of the worst casualties that we have had to the ongoing financial crisis.

Tonight is the Iron County Historical Society fundraiser dinner and program. This will take place at the Frontier Homestead State Park. This begins at 6 PM with a Dutch Oven dinner. The program will feature author Jolene Allphin, she wrote the book “Tell My Story Too.” This is a collection of biographical sketches of the pioneers in the Willie and Martin Handcart Company as well as their rescuers.

Today in Cedar City there will be free fishing from 9 AM to 5 PM at Cedar City's Lake at the Hills. This event is being put onby the Division of Wildlife Resources and the Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife. They will have a limited supply of fishing poles and tackle to be checked out. There will also be prizes given away. This could be a fun event for the entire family! The Lake at the Hills is located near the new Acquatic Center.

I have spent some time talking about the wonderful small cities in the Cedar City Real Estate Market and what a joy it is to be able to work in those cities. I haven’t spent the time writing about the heart of the Cedar City Real Estate Market, Cedar City. Cedar City boasts a population near 28,000, that doesn’t account for the students at Southern Utah University.

In the Cedar City Real Estate Market, Mesa Hills is one of if not the first upscale subdivision in Cedar City. It was built in several phases from the early 1990′s. The name isn't very Politically Correct, but it is a very nice subdivision in the Cedar City Real Estate Market. Indian Hills is situated on the South East side of Cedar City. This is another very stable subdivision, there are currently two homes listed for sale. This is a small subdivision of custom homes, built in the early to mid 1990's. They are at the base of the hill.

I have mentioned in other posts that the 1970’s brought quite a bit of building into the Cedar City Real Estate Market. The Stanworth subdivision is another of those late 1960’s to early 1970’s subdivisions. It was built in a time when most of the homes being built were built as brick homes.
