living in cedar city: Sunday's Photo Part II...Historic Home in Parowan - 12/01/12 05:28 PM
I have been playing with some photos of my mother's home town, Parowan.  I have been playing with some different effects on some pictures that I have taken through the years.  This particular photo was taken in the dead of Winter with a lot of snow on the ground.  Something we currently do not have.  I hope that you like what I came up with for this historic home in Parowan.

living in cedar city: Cedar City Subdivisions...Rancho Bonita Market Update 1/19/2012 - 01/19/12 06:57 AM
The Cedar City Real Estate Market has a few subdivisions that have great potential, but were started just about the time that the real estate bubble burst.  Rancho Bonita is certainly one of those.  Rancho Bonita is one of the subdivisions that are a little removed from Cedar City.
Rancho Bonita is another of the subdivisions with large lots they are 1/2 acres.  This is a subdivision that offers great mountain views.  It is quiet, and laid back.  This was another subdivision where you were able to bring your own builder.
The homes in this subdivision are more of the custom … (11 comments)

living in cedar city: Cedar City Subdivisions...Flying L Ranches Market Update 1/16/2012 - 01/16/12 08:14 AM
The Cedar City Real Estate Market has some subdivisions with enough ground to be gentlemen’s ranches.  The Flying L Ranches is one such subdivision. The Flying L Ranches Subdivision is just outside of the Cedar City boundaries.  It was built in several phases, beginning in the late 1990's to the early 2000's.  The homes that I am highlighting are in phase 2 of the development.
The Subdivision is comprised of larger move up or custom executive homes on large lots.  The newer phases they are on 1/2 acre lots.  The original phase had 1 acre lots. This is a very nice subdivision.  … (8 comments)

living in cedar city: Cedar City Localism Post….Wax Those Skis - 11/19/11 03:06 AM
I am surprised to say that it is that time of year again.  Brian Head Ski Resort opens for the Season today!  It seems a little early, but I am sure that the avid skiers and snow boarders have been waiting for to them what seems like an eternity to hit the slopes.  That day is here and there is even a chance that the resort will receive some fresh powder this weekend.
I have never been much of a skier, but I hear that is a good thing when you have fresh powder.  For information on pricing and times contact: … (8 comments)

living in cedar city: Things That We Don't Often See in Cedar City..... - 11/14/11 01:41 PM
We love Cedar City, but driving back to Oceanside from NAR Convention in Anaheim we were treated to something that we don't get to see often in Cedar City.  It was cloudy the further South that we drove with a few breaks in the clouds with the sun's rays peaking through.  It was a gorgeous shot.  Darcy took it from the car as we drove down Interstate 5.

living in cedar city: Great Movie...Soul Surfer..... - 04/12/11 10:52 AM
Darcy and I sneaked out yesterday afternoon and watched the movie Soul Surfer.  It is a great movie, with a really great message!  It is a message about hope and overcoming, but it is also as applicable to business as it is to life in general.  Many of you know the story, it is based in fact, a 13 year old girl who is a competitive surfer lost an arm in a shark attack.
The story is about how she overcame that obstacle to continue with her life, and compete as a professional surfer.  I found several things that were applicable … (20 comments)

living in cedar city: Monday's Thoughts...... - 04/11/11 07:58 AM
I have been sitting here in the free moments trying to digest everything that I have learned the past few weeks.  We have been on information overload since RE Bar Camp, that coming on the heels of Agent Reboot.  I know that I will need to sit down with Darcy and plan out how to implement what we have learned from these outstanding events.
Since it is Baseball Season I wanted to use a Baseball oriented quote or quotes for motivation.  Here goes:
"Don't bunt. Aim out of the ballpark."  David Ogilvy
I really like this idea, aim for the homerun, … (18 comments)

living in cedar city: Anticipation...How long do you wait?? - 04/08/11 01:35 AM
I have put off writing this post, I didn't want to jinx the closing.  We had a closing yesterday that was over 2 years in the making!  This isn't even a short sale!  Our buyers are a young couple that took a long time finding something that they qualified for.  Thanks to the USDA program we found them a really cute twin home.  It was an REO, but one that had not been damaged by it's previous owners.
The USDA program is one that we are using a lot in our area, it is really helping buyers get into homes.  Anyway, … (11 comments)

living in cedar city: Looking Forward to ReBar Camp Phoenix again!!! - 04/05/11 05:53 PM
Darcy and I are really looking forward to ReBar Camp Phoenix this Friday!  It means a long drive and a quick trip, but if it is just half as good as it was last year it will be worth it!  I have no doubt that it will be much better than that!  For those who have never attended a ReBar Camp, you should look one up!  They are amazing!  You can check the website: http://www.rebarcamp.com for upcoming events!
The best thing is that you get great training and networking opportunities and other than lodging and food for us, it is free!  … (14 comments)

living in cedar city: One More Thought........ - 04/03/11 04:57 AM
This is a quote by Thornton Wilder, the playwright.  It is one that I came across several days ago and have shared with some of my friends.  This is one that I use to motivate myself to find something new to learn or do each day.
"Seek the lofty by reading, hearing and seeing great work at some moment every day."
To me this means that once we stop learning and seeking higher and greater thoughts and ideals.  This is what keeps us moving forward, at least in my opinion.  We need to constantly be improving!

Sometimes what we need … (24 comments)

living in cedar city: Motivational Thought.... - 04/02/11 12:09 PM
I came across this great quote.  I often find it inspiring to read quotes, even when I don't particularly feel like I need any extra motivation.  It serves as a time to get my head straight and refine my focus more.  This is a great quote it is from Mahatma Ghandi.  Here it is:
"The future depends on what we do in the present."
This is so true!  We can not expect to reap something that we have not sown!  We can't wake up tomorrow morning expecting to have 6 listing appointments and 5 buyer ready, willing and able to buy … (8 comments)

living in cedar city: Scenic Saturday...Southern Utah.... - 04/02/11 08:19 AM
Saturday's are usually days that I catch up with the other stuff from Real Estate.  We have been away at Inman Agent Reboot, so rather than catch up with the other stuff, I am catching up some of the primary stuff!  Anyway, I needed to take a recharge break and wanted to share some of why we love living in Southern Utah.

living in cedar city: Thoughs for Saturday...What is your Niche????...... - 04/02/11 07:00 AM
What is your niche?  I am not sure what ours is, our community is a small one.  We have about 40,000 people in the area in which we work.  We sell the entire spectrum of homes and have sold multi units.  About the only thing that we haven't done nor tried to do is straight up commercial properties.  We have worked the entire spectrum of residential.
We love working with first time home buyers, but then we love working with sellers, investors and anyone else!  Darcy got into real estate as a property manager, and was very good at it.  Our … (7 comments)

living in cedar city: Thankful Thursday...WorldMark by Wyndham..... - 03/31/11 10:53 AM
One of the best purchases that Darcy and I have made is a time share with WorldMark resorts.  Without going through the entire concept, but what we purchased is points that can be used at resorts all over the World, especially now that they are connected to the RCI Resorts.
We have used our points the past couple of trainings that we have gone to.  It is nice not to have to pay for a hotel and to be able to stay at a comfortable room that is familiar to you.  We have stayed at several WorldMark resorts in California, Nevada, … (14 comments)

living in cedar city: California Dreaming in March..... - 03/28/11 09:43 PM
I have mentioned it a few times before, The C Team is heading to California.  The main reason is the Agen Reboot put on by Inman, but there is an ulterior motive as well, warm weather!  We enjoyed a beautiful day here today, no storms, but cool breezes.  We are looking forward to just being able to be warm outside, and dream of Spring!  That is the reason for leaving our beautiful Southern Utah Red Rocks, is to enjoy the warm surf of the Pacific!
We will be online from time to time to let everyone know how the Agent Reboot … (16 comments)

living in cedar city: Tuesday's Thought.... - 03/28/11 06:07 PM
I came across this quote for today.  I will admit that we are going to be on the road most of the day today, so I am posting late Monday Night.  We are going to the Inman Agent Reboot in Irvine, California.  We are looking forward to the great information!  We do hope to see many of our Active Rain friends there as well!  Anyway the quote is from Thomas Jefferson.
"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. "
How true is … (15 comments)

living in cedar city: Mondays Motivational Thought...... - 03/28/11 07:28 AM
I have been needing some motivation to get going today.  We spent every spare moment last week moving, this week, so far I have been feeling the move all over my body, so getting going is not at the forefront of my brain so far.  I came across this quote by Albert Einstein.
"Try not to become a man of success but a man of value."
This is key in our industry, that is our stock it trade, the value that we provide to our clients!

That is one of the issues that I know that I face, I spend … (14 comments)

living in cedar city: Painful Reminders..... - 03/24/11 06:44 PM
The C Team has spent every available minute this week moving into a new house.  I have many areas of my body that are painful reminders that I am not as young as I used to be!  The new place is nice, it is a little smaller, but it is newer in a new neighborhood.  As much as we loved the old neighborhood, especially the neighbors, we are looking forward to meeting new neighbors!
The best part of about the move is that it is just across town, so we can keep in touch with are friends in the Cobblecreek area!  … (16 comments)
