In this post I am continuing with my take on the list of traits that happy people have. I got this list from a neighborhoood newsletter. There was no source of the list in the article. I mention this in each post to show that the list isn't something that I came up with. I wish that I had! Todays trait is to see problems as challenges. This is not something that is new. Many coaches and trainers have mentioned this trait in their services. It seems like an easy thing to do, but in practice, probably not so!

This is another in the list of traits of happy people that I found in a community newsletter. Once again, I have no idea who to attribute this list to. I would like to give the author credit, but I really don't know who it is that deserves the credit. The second trait on the list is very important. Treat everyone with kindness. I have written something similiar to this on a couple of occassions. It really is that simple, be kind to everyone.

I have mentioned before that one of the areas in which we work is the Woods Cross, Utah area. My desire in this blog is to paint an overview of the single family housing real estate market in Woods Cross over the past year.
In the past year there have been 140 single family homes sell in Woods Cross. The lowest price that I found was $100,645, the highest sold price that I found in the past year was $446,556. The Median Price is $216,000 and the median time that these homes were on the market is an astounding 22 days!

Playground, Hogan Park, Woods Cross, Utah
Here stands the playground, empty, early in the Spring. You can almost here the laughter of happy children past and future playing on this playground. It has changed a lot since I was a child. Gone is the tall, metal slide that would burn you as you slide down it on those hot days of July and August, replaced by smaller, more diverse slides and other fun stuff! There are days when I wish that I were still a child!

My childhood home is long gone. It has been a strip mall for several years now. The other day Darcy and I went to take some photos in Woods Cross. This photo is taken from where my front door would have been. It is now the middle of a parking lot.
Looking almost straight East from where my front door used to be.

Last Monday, Darcy and I went to downtown Salt Lake City. We stopped at Temple Square. I am going to share photos in a few blogs. Temple Square draws over a million visitors every year. It is less that 15 minutes from Bountiful. I have been there many times, it is a familiar place to me.

This is another thing that is directly applicable to our business. How many of us talk ourselves out of business? Too many, the essence of this post is that we have two ears and one mouth, we should use them in that proportion. This really is important! We really do need to be shut up and pay attention a lot more than we do. Let the client do most of the talking, they are the most important part of the equation anyway!

This is something that we really need to put into practice in our business'. We have often been told to under promise and over deliver. We do need to make sure that we are doing this. The idea behind this ideal is that along with having a strong charactor and having boundaries you belong to something other than just yourself. Often in the Old West a cowboy had a saddle partner. The movies portrayed this as a sidekick, but in reality it was more than either of those. It was the premise that you belonged to something other than just yourself. Whether it was as an employee at a ranch or just the team of you and your saddle partner, you were loyal to that organization regardless of how loosely structured that organization was. This comes from a time in history where deals were consumed with a handshake. There were no lawyers, no contracts nor paperwork needed for both parties to accept that a deal was done. This post should probably been the first one in this series. For my purposes in this post, I am equating character with integrity.
