Beaufort, SC real estate observers s have been waiting for years for the next step to be taken in Port Royal, where 50 acres of pristine waterfront property awaits development. For years, the South Carolina Ports Authority operated a lightly-used shipping port on the site. The port has been shut for several years now. First, just a few years ago, former Gov. Beaufort, SC real estate watchers have been waiting for years for something to happen at the end of Paris Avenue, in old Port Royal. That is where the state of South Carolina formerly operated a port along the banks of Battery Creek, which is considered some of the best deep-water property in the Southeast.
