clover: Relocating to the Charlotte Area - 01/26/12 02:59 AM
It is amazing the number of people that continue to relocate to our area with their jobs and to get closer to their family. Many folks relocating to the area are trying to figure out where to live which is typical of anyone moving to a new area. When looking to purchase a home folks should consider distance to work, schools, convenience to many amenities such as shopping, restaurants, hospitals and proximity to interstates. Many newcomers coming to the area will try to figure out on their own even though they don't know much about the area. Since the purchase … (0 comments)

clover: Coupon Crazy (actually Coupon Smart) - 01/10/11 02:55 PM
On Saturday night we decided to run some errands including a stop at Harris Teeter for some groceries just in case it snowed.  As soon as we walked into Harris Teeter we thought there was a party going on and we were crashing it.  There were people everywhere and the excitement and electricity wasn't over the anticipated snow, but it was over coupons! It was crazy and I can only describe it as a coupon party going on.  Women, and men, were stopped in the aisles talking about the various coupons in their possession, the triple couple deals, the various ways to organize … (2 comments)

clover: Mike's Spikes ........great Christmas Gifts - 12/15/10 02:49 AM
Talk about the gadget of the century!  Our entire family loves the beach.  Nothing like spending the day with a good book, cooler of beverages, wide ocean and your feet in the sand.  For years we have always taken our umbrella to get out of the sun since we stay down at the beach all day long.  We have spent tons of money on stands and new umbrellas that seem to get ruined from the hammering them down into the sand. My prayers have finally been answered thanks to Mikes Spikes.  This nifty invention is an umbrella sand anchor that has a drive … (1 comments)

clover: Christmas Trees - 12/05/10 01:33 AM
Nothing smells better than the scent of a freshly cut Christmas tree.  This time of year one of my favorite things about the holiday season is walking into a home and smelling a wonderful frasier fur Christmas tree.  For those that prefer a live tree instead of an artificial tree there are a few precautions to keep in mind this holiday season.  Always keep your tree watered well.  My dad would always soak our tree in a big bucket of water 24 hours before putting it in the stand and bringing it into the house.  Every day be sure and check … (2 comments)

clover: Start the Year Off Right - 12/02/10 12:13 AM
As we wind down 2010 and prepare for a new year there are several opportunities that folks need to consider as part of their financial future.  For many reasons we all believe that the start of a new year is the perfect time to wipe the slate clean and get organized and ready to commit to goals and dreams.  Here are few important things to consider as you enter a new year.
*  Is this the time to refinance?  Interest rates are still at some of the lowest rates ever , but many experts expect the interest rates to begin to … (0 comments)

clover: Insurance Reviews - 11/11/10 03:03 AM
Hard to believe we are heading into the holidays and another year is quickly coming to a close.  Along with holiday preparations this is the perfect time of year to contact your insurance agent and review your homeowners insurance policy.  Many times we take out insurance, but we never take the time to review our policy to make sure we have the right coverage for any changes that may have occurred.  Keep in mind that any renovations, upgrades, additions and so forth that you make to your home should be communicated to your insurance agent so that those items are covered … (3 comments)

clover: Why "For Sale By Owner" can be a big mistake - 09/23/10 08:49 PM
Whenever homeowners are considering selling their home one of the first questions they ask themselves is should they try to do "for sale by owner" instead of listing with a real estate agent.  This is a fair question and many folks think they can manage the process of selling a home on their own while saving commission to a Realtor.  Many folks who take this path quickly become disenchanted with the process and all that is involved in trying to sell their home.
The truth is a real estate agent can help homeowners from the beginning of the process by gathering information … (4 comments)

clover: Be smart on your pricing and still make a profit in todays market - 08/23/10 10:02 AM
The asking price you set for your home significantly affects whether you will profit in the sale, how much you will profit and how long your home will sit on the market. Your real estate agent's knowledge of the overall market and what's selling - or not selling - will be invaluable in helping you determine the price. The objective is to find a price that the market will bear but won't leave money on the table.
Here are some points to consider: Time. Time is not on your side when it comes to real estate. Although many factors influence the … (0 comments)

clover: Lets Have Realistic Expectations - 08/19/10 07:30 AM
It is definitely a buyer's market, but if you don't have realistic expectations as either a buyer or a seller this can be a disappointing time.  Due to the current state of the economy homes are not selling for as a high a price as they may have a couple of years ago.  Having said that, if you are selling and buying you need to remember that even though the house may not sell for the price you are hoping you can recoup on the buyer side of the transaction and end up purchasing more house than possible a couple of … (1 comments)

clover: Drive Safe - 08/18/10 04:41 AM
As the parent of a student who is just now driving on his own I worry quite a bit about driver safety.  With school starting many parking lots and roads will be filled with you and inexperienced drivers.  I caution these young drivers to be aware of your surroundings and other drivers.  Does not matter how good a driver you may be, but you also need to be looking out for other drivers.  Neighborhoods need particular attention because with so many people and children out walking, skateboarding and riding bikes drivers need to be cautious and aware of all the folks … (1 comments)

clover: Back To School - 08/14/10 11:05 AM

Hard to believe that summer is coming to an end and school will soon be starting back.  Even though we enjoyed our summer we are also looking forward to getting back into swing with school.  In the York County area we are fortunate to have such great schools and whether you have children in the schools system or not be sure to support all the activities that will be taking place.  Football season will be cranking up with some incredible talent playing this year for several area schools.  Volleyball, cross country, and soccer will be gearing up.  Some of the … (2 comments)

clover: Its time for PW's - 08/13/10 08:56 AM
During the summer months there is nothing better in the evenings than a special treat of ice cream.  In Rock Hill one of our favorite spots to take the family for a sweet treat is PW’s ice cream located on Herlong Avenue about 1/2 mile from Piedmont Medical Center.  PW’s features homemade ice cream in a number of flavors, but they have many specialties that you don’t find in many places.  My family in particular loves the Concrete which is a delicious concoction of ice cream with special items such as Oreo cookies, Butterfinger, Snickers, M&Ms and so forth mixed in.  … (0 comments)

clover: Investment Property - 05/17/10 05:52 AM

Many people often ask us if investing in rental property is a wise investment.  For long term investment purposes real estate has long been a wise financial investment for people.  Unfortunately the economy over the last 2 years has had a tremendous effect on folks and many of the effects are negative resulting in a record number of foreclosures and short sales.  As a result of this misfortune there are a number of real estate opportunities that make purchasing a second home or an investment property doable when once before many people could not have afforded such an investment.  This … (0 comments)
