brewerytown: Taste the Nation with Rybread Cafe's Multi-City Sandwich Menu (Fairmount/Brewerytown) - 07/20/10 02:33 AM
With a name like Rybread Cafe, you can practically taste the dark strong bread. The 23rd and Fairmount sandwich shop is new to the Fairmount and Brewerytown neighborhoods and it comes with a story that has some backbone to it. Owner Ryan has a background in architecture, a set of skills that we like to think is closely related to how well you can build a sandwich. That would make sense, right? After losing his job during the changing economy, Ryan set off for a road trip across the country for 7 weeks.
He ate quite a few sandwiches and then … (2 comments)

The plan also announces Brewerytown's upcoming community website, which will serve as a resource to communicate ideas and keep track of developments and changes in the neighborhood. The list of initiatives includes hosting events, organizing block watches, and neighborhood cleanups and litter-free zone efforts. brewerytown: What's up with...Brewerytown - 04/28/10 03:27 AM
The neighborhood of Brewerytown extends from the Schuylkill River to 25th Street in North Philadelphia. Historically, Brewerytown was the site of numerous breweries, particularly during the 1800's when it had more breweries than most areas in the state.
Brewerytown 's West Girard Avenue corridor is the site of many new businesses, newly-constructed homes, art galleries, and retail spaces. Along it you'll find a record store, plenty of soul food restaurants, and easy access to Northern Liberties and Fishtown via the Route 15 trolley. It's also a quick walk to the Art Museum and Fairmount.
Mugshots Coffeehouse (pictured below) will open a … (1 comments)

brewerytown: The City of Murals Gets Two More from Renowned Artist - 04/23/10 12:12 AM
The folks at MM Partners, LLC just alerted us to some live mural action happening later today in Brewerytown. Their office at 2621 Girard Avenue will get some sweet mural treatment from the Mural Arts Program and artist Shepard Fairey at 4 pm. Their new neighbors Mugshots, who are currently at work on their second location at 2831 Girard, will be on hand with refreshments for the onlookers.
Fairey, as many well know, is famous for his OBEY campaign featuring Andre the Giant and the Obama HOPE poster. So it's pretty exciting news to hear that Fairey and his assistants will … (2 comments)

Temple students Phil Coles and Chris Banks head on over to Brewerytown to check in on the progress of the second Mugshots Coffeehouse at 2831 Girard Avenue and found out what the locals thought. brewerytown: A Sunday in Fairmount Starts at Mugshots. The Art Museum Area Philadelphia - 02/03/10 02:20 AM

If it's quiet in Fairmount on a Sunday, that's because everyone is at Mugshots Coffeehouse. Med students cramming in one last hour of study, a deejay recovering from Saturday night, we're all here. And there's definitely some volume in the room.
The Fairmount Avenue hub expanded last year to accompany all of the locals that flocked there for lattes and bagels. They pumped up their menu and kept the dessert case full. On this particular afternoon, the one item everyone ahead of me seemed to be ordering was the chocolate peanut butter bombe from Vegan Treats.
But it's not … (3 comments)
