northern liberties neighbors association: Drop Off Your E-Waste in Northern Liberties - 10/19/11 02:15 AM

From the NLNA: Bring all your electronic junk - TVs, computers, toasters, printers, window AC unites - if it has a circuit board, we can probably take it! A small bunch of stuff that fits in one of our milk crates crates costs just $2 to recycle. A larger bunch or a large item costs just $5. In most cases this means it'll cost less than ever to responsibly recycle your stuff.

northern liberties neighbors association: 2nd Street Cleanup: Results! - 06/13/11 10:08 AM

We want to thank everyone who showed up on Saturday for the 2nd Street Cleanup and donated their time and energy into giving 2nd Street from Fairmount to Poplar a much-needed facelift.  We also want to thank Liberties Parcel for donating the fantastic signs for the event and Green Eggs Cafe for passing around delicious iced tea relief to the volunteers. Thanks to the NLNA for the brooms, gloves, and other supplies for the cleanup.  Together we made quick work of the litter, weeds, cigarette butts, and debris lining the streets and filled every single trash bag! Just check out … (0 comments)

northern liberties neighbors association: Giving Back to the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association - 03/19/11 03:26 AM
Giving Back to the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association
First off, I must say I am very happy to be writing this blog.  Business has been good to us and of course we have worked very hard to achieve that.  But more importantly, we feel that it is important to give back to the community.  We have been residents in Northern Liberties since 2005 and our office is in Northern Liberties now as well.

Thus, we recently implemented a new program where for every settlement we have in Northern Liberties, for every buyer and seller, we will donate 5 percent of the commissions … (2 comments)

northern liberties neighbors association: Super Bowl? How about North Bowl? The Annual NLNA Winter Holiday Party. - 02/01/11 07:33 AM
The Northern Liberties Neighbors Association is known for always waiting until long after the holidays to have their annual fundraising party...and you gotta love 'em for that. When it's dead of winter outside and there's not much going on, a party with friends and locals is just the thing to get you out of the house with the bonus of raising money for your neighborhood.
We showed off our bowling skills at last year's event at North Bowl and are happy to see that the NLNA is taking it back to the lanes again this year. We hope to see you … (0 comments)

northern liberties neighbors association: Northern Liberties Watch: December 9th's NLNA Meeting - 12/10/10 03:20 AM
In case you missed last night's Northern Liberties Neighbors Association meeting, we stopped by to find out what's new, be it a concern or an inspiration, in the neighborhood. The house was packed, as always, with the friendly faces of the neighborhood.
Northern Liberties 2011 Calendars are still available and make great gifts. Orianna Hill Dog Park will be Treecycling this year. As you may know, Christmas trees are currently not recycled by the city of Philadelphia, so make sure you remove all of the decorations and drop your tree off with a $5 donation at Orianna Hill so that your … (1 comments)

All proceeds will benefit the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association, so pre-register for the tour to satisfy your curiosity and to help out your neighborhood.

northern liberties neighbors association: Update on Spring Garden Greenway Project - 05/04/10 02:35 AM
You can read about the Spring Garden Greenway Project over at DIGSAU's site, the beautification project that aims to turn the Spring Garden SEPTA station and underpass into a pedestrian promenade with street plantings, better lighting, and art installations. We're happy to know that the first step in this undertaking is already set for May 22. The Northern Liberties Neighbors Associations will plant 55 trees along the Spring Garden corridor, but they need some volunteers. If you'd like to have a hand in making the gateway to Northern Liberties a little greener, email Erika Goldberg, bgoldewag@verizon.net (or matt@nlna.org). The team will … (0 comments)

northern liberties neighbors association: Recap of Last Night's NLNA Meeting - 01/29/10 03:04 AM

In case you didn't brave it in the cold for last night's monthy meeting of the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association, we stopped by for the neighborhood briefing.
First up, RecycleBank gave a presentation on their recycling rewards program, which rolls out in Northern Liberties next week. The process is simple: you sign up through their website, slap an electronic tag on your recycling bin, and you receive points each time the truck picks up your load. Points can be redeemed for discounts at local businesses, Whole Foods, Target, and many others. You can also choose to donate your points to … (0 comments)
