GPAR asks The Somers to Speak on Social Media and Blogging I was recently asked to speak by the Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors (GPAR) on the topics of blogging, websites and social media. To me, this is one heck of a compliment as there are A LOT of Realtors in Philadelphia that could have been asked to address the subject.

It was great to be at the Real Estate Bar Camp in Philadelphia this past week held at The World Cafe (what a great venue !!) ! As usual, there were some great leaders in our industry sharing their knowledge and experiences primarily in the Social Media, technology and innovation space of real estate. What was amazing to me was the low turn-out of our own Philadelphia agents. You would think that with the vast growth of Internet Marketing and Social Media that an opportunity like this would bring out a huge crowd. This past week Stephanie and I took the course Social Media Marketing from the Social Media Marketing Institute . The course was taught by two expert Social Media gurus, Bill Lublin and Kim Wood . 10 months ago, I did not know what Active Rain was. I have only had a blog for around 9 months. Have only been active on Facebook for 6 months or so. Have had a Twitter account fow a few months. I still do not know what RSS stands for and cannot figure out "feeds". I do not know how to upload a video to my blog. One of the topics that was discussed by Ines and Jay Thompson was "Don't forget about the real world - using your offline efforts to support your online endeavors".
