Today is Smith Mountain Lake Clean Up Day! At 8:30 this morning our lakefront community met for breakfast, hosted by Mary and Jim King's house. Everything in our neighborhood usually turns out to be a party. We each got "Clean the Lake" T-shirts as well as tickets to Mangos (located at the Hales Ford Bridge) for Sunday's volunteer celebration picnic. This is the 20th such clean-up day sponsored by the Tri-County Lake Administrative Commission and the SML Chamber of Commerce. Docking is always a problem for both new and experienced boaters. The wind, current, and other factors impact a successful docking experience. The Smith Mountain Lake Water Safety Council will offer a FREE boat docking clinic/demonstration in conjunction with this year's Southwest Virginia Boat Dealers' In-Water Boat Show. The docking clinic and boat show will be held at the Bridgewater Plaza docks April 27-29, 2007 (Route 122 at the Franklin and Bedford County Boarder (Hales Ford Bridge). The Van Team often gets calls on their listings from prospective buyers that have no idea if they can get a loan or for what amount.
