sales: Are You Winning The Epic Battle of Home Life vs. Work Life? (PFS 004) - 07/01/18 10:28 AM

Rest & Recharge is as important as Listings and Closing Escrows! Last week I produced a podcast on Boundaries, which is a continued effort to remind entrepreneurs, small business owners and Realtors to stop and smell the roses. You get one life, don’t blow it! Two years ago,
I posted a series of blogs regarding balancing work and home, business and personal and the challenges with that and disciplines required for it.

Listen to Episode 004 Here: Boundaries: Balancing Home Life Your Work Life

I very often debate with other agents about the merits of rest & recharge vs. 24/7. Look, you can … (8 comments)

She has made and lost millions and that my friends, is where true education and experience is developed. You can read about it in her book, How To Be The Family CFO. Kim has trained thousands to take control of their own financial future, in her Snider Investment Method workshops.
And, she had the top rated financial radio show in Dallas-Fort Worth for … (2 comments)

sales: 2,000 Kitchen Tables - 05/15/17 06:07 AM
Sitting Down At Over 2,000 Tables
Facing often two opposite-personalities, yet both making a decision.

I've been in sales for over 30 years. I've attended college courses, read hundreds of sales books, taken many years of sales trainings and continuing education and even worked with business coaches. But none of that is unique. Experienced, loyal, organized, good communicator, great negotiator, skilled problem solver; all true, none of it unique.

What is a USP? What is your USP? A USP is your Unique Selling Proposition; those qualities, tools, strategies or guaranteed results you offer that none can duplicate. Better yet, your USP's are your stories, those … (9 comments)

sales: A Winning Equation: Run - Rest + Recharge x Recover = Success! - 03/10/17 12:58 PM

I cringe when sales people e.g. real estate agents brag on how little sleep they get, how available they are by phone to their clients and how they'll leave the dinner table or a family vacation to assist a client. They think theirs extra trophy's, extra pay, extra credit for this behavior...NOT! They are heading for the big crash, the burnout that kills the joy, the enthusiasm and the effectiveness of that agent's skills. The big crash can show up in their health, their marriage, their relationship with their kids, their production, etc.
Lack of sleep, lack of rest, lack of down time, makes us … (8 comments)

sales: It's Garbage Day, Time To Take Out The Head Trash - 03/09/17 07:36 AM
Head Trash is the stinking thinking only you see the world through; your conditioned response mechanism. The "knee-jerk" reaction in you instead of the thought out response from you. It's your fears, your life experiences, your beliefs arrived at by all you've been through. But, I have not been through that, I've been through my own. And your clients their own and other Realtors their own and so on. So, essentially no one is wrong, yet a problem exists, so someone needs to change something or else here we are, stuck.

This why we take the positions we do, why some of us … (12 comments)

sales: Three Trusted Brands, One Big Lesson in Customer Loyalty - 02/28/17 08:13 AM
In order to be a real estate brand, you have to understand what a brand is, what it means to the public and especially your clientele.

When I think of the brands I trust, my go to choices - so to speak, I've learned a lot about creating my own brand through reflection upon why I palce so much value & trust in those I choose to align myself and my business with. Three of non-Real Estate brands I trust and admire are:

Virgin America and the entire Virgin brand represents quality, cutting edge services and products. Richard Branson is a brand genius; … (14 comments)

sales: Content or Connection? - 02/27/17 05:43 PM
Are you so focused on the content, you forget to connect?
Don't get so focused on the content or the presentation of it,
that you lose the opportunity to connect with your clients (your audience).

You are there to make a connection more so than deliver the information. Don't get me wrong, you have to know your market, know your numbers and know how to deliver the goods. But, chances are, the client already has a sense about you that you do knows this data, that's why they are interviewing you! They are equally if not more interested in; does this guy or gal … (23 comments)

Have you ever stopped to think about how many people we employ as Real Estate Agents?
We may not fill out all their w-2's but without a Realtor,
they'd have far less work coming through their business.
We are the splash, that starts the ripple effect of commerce and growth for many businesses!

An open letter to myself to stay focused on the fundamentals...

Dear TJ,
Sometimes you suffer from "shiny object syndrome". You just get bored and want to try something new. You are a Free Spirit and routines are boring and shiny objects and new tools are momentarily distracting and even inspires you to think, "if I could just buy this, I'd be able to accomplish that."  But, the truth is, where success begins, is with your habits and the choices you make, not the latest gizmo or paid leads. The man that can't manage $100.00 will never be given the chance to manage $1,000,000 as your Grandpa used to … (45 comments)

I was in between appointments today and hungry, so I stopped at Starbucks for a Panini and a drink. I decided to sit outside on their terrace and enjoy our 70 degree day...ah February in San Diego, 70 and sunny.
I was lost in my book when I heard "would you like to buy some Girl Scout cookies?"
This cute little girl of about 9 years of age and her mom were toting a wagon full of Girl Scout cookie boxes! I always buy them because they make fun pop-by gifts for my clients.
They were asking a table full of ladies behind me. "No thank you" … (18 comments)
