bailout: Wall St vs. Main St bailout- best bang for the buck?

So, I was mulling over blog topic ideas with my husband. I was thinking of doing one about the mortgage bailout plan, or lack of... My husband mentioned that there's probably a reason why the politicians were so quick to bailout Wall Street and haven't done a thing about the bad debt (i.e. mortgages) on Main St... He mentioned that the reason might be that most politicians have a larger percentage of their assets invested in Wall Street rather than real estate, therefore they are fighting the fire that most directly affects them.
