The Federal Reserve recently published their latest issue of the Beige Book. It is available online. The following is a brief list of it's overall (national) summary findings (using data as of July 14th):1. Economic activity slowed somewhat since the last report. St. Louis said activity was stable and San Francisco reported little or no growth. Cleveland and Minneapolis reported slight increases in economic activity, while Dallas described growth as steady and moderate. 2. Consumer spending was sluggish or slowing over most of the county due to higher gas and food prices. Tax rebates boosted sales for some items, such as electronics. CommercialSource.com was created by NAR to become THE national commercial listing service. It was started with the acquisition of 10-year old ePropertyData (March 2008), which provides the engine and hosting for the commercial listing service. It currently has over 50,000 listings, growing weekly and is projected to reach 250,000 by 2009, and will continue to grow as the service is developed and features are added.According speakers James Marrelli and Allen Benson, who presented their overview of CommercialSource.com at the NAR Commercial Alliance's Online Convention the main Commercial Source listings site will be a national display site (compared to Loopnet listings), free to NAR members. The following is a brief list of it's overall (national) summary findings (using data as of June 2nd):1. Economic activity remained weak since the last report. Economic activity was weak, soft, sluggish, modest in all Districts, except Philadelphia, Atlanta, Cleveland, St. Louis and San Francisco which had stable or little change. 2. The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) recently announced the completion and implementation of a new commercial/multifamily real estate property inspection form for various property types including Office, Retail, Multifamily, Healthcare, Lodging and Industrial.The updated inspection form already has industry-wide adoption by servicers for all funding sources including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The National Association of REALTORS®(NAR) has launched a new Web site focused on commercial real estate, which includes a commercial property listing database that offers access to commercial property listings from all 50 states.The new site will reside at http://www.commercialsource.com/, previously the site for the REALTORS® Commercial Alliance's online convention. The NAR announced that it's newly created, for-profit, Second Century Ventures Acquired ePropertyData.ePropertyData is a major provider of commercial information exchange (CIE) services for the commercial real estate industry."For the past five years, ePD, based in Gig Harbor, Wash., has been providing CIE services to the commercial real estate industry. ePD operates two of the largest CIEs in the country, CommercialMLS.com, on behalf of the 4,500-member Commercial Brokers Association in Seattle, and CommercialGateway.com for the 2,000-member commercial division of the Houston Association of Realtors®."
