nova scotia real estate: Real Estate Journey #1 - First-time Home Buyers - 12/28/22 09:43 AM

I've had the privilege of helping some pretty great people get where they want to go. This video, I share a a story of a really great young couple just starting out.
They first contacted me one year prior to actively buying to set up a plan and five years later, they have increased their home's value by more than $300,000 with work, dedication and really great choices in improvements... all paid with cash! Amazing! Now a family of four and set for the rest of their lives.
I'm so incredibly thankful for this experience and journey they invited me on.

nova scotia real estate: Make Sure Your Home Is Ready for Winter - 11/14/22 07:50 AM
If you do not live in a warm, tropical climate, the fall months are the best time to get your home ready for freezing temperatures, snowstorms, and icy conditions that lie ahead in the wintertime. Protect your home and property by reserving some autumn weekends to check the interior and exterior space for proper drainage, protection from winds, and insulation from the cold. You also want to ascertain that all your … (4 comments)

nova scotia real estate: Home EV Charging Stations: The Basics - 01/24/22 01:41 PM
Electric vehicles are increasingly popular, and many EV owners enjoy the fact that they don’t have to hit the gas station every week to stay on the road. These cars still need fuel, however, and that means that access to a charging station is very important. While there are adapters available that let you charge an EV using a standard outlet, the charge takes a significant amount of time because the adapters provide current at the lowest level that the cars are able to accept.
Because of this, an increasing number of EV owners are installing their own charging stations in their … (1 comments)

nova scotia real estate: The Color of the Year Has Been Announced! - 01/10/22 08:42 AM
You may not be aware of it, but many paint and pigment companies choose colors that they think will be hot in the coming year. Shades of green seem to be an overwhelming favorite for 2022, with almost every company choosing some green hue as either their top pick, or part of their overall range of choices. In fact, green is so well-represented this year that there’s really only one company that seems to be bucking the green trend entirely, but it’s a big one.
Pantone Color Institute, the company that actually manages color standards, broke from the pack with a significantly … (0 comments)

"Communities work better (students perform better, crime rates are lower, kids are safer, people live longer) when neighbours know one another better. Knowing your neighbour on a first-name basis...is a surprisingly effective first step."
- Robert Putnam, Harvard Public Policy Professor and author of Bowling Alone
While advancements in technology have made it possible for us to connect with people from around the world, numerous studies show that it has led to a decline in face-to-face interactions.1
In his book Bowling Alone, Harvard Public Policy Professor Robert Putnam “draws on evidence including nearly 500,000 interviews over the last quarter century to show that we sign fewer petitions, belong … (1 comments)

nova scotia real estate: Real Estate 2017: What to Expect - 01/09/17 09:52 AM

One of the most common questions we get at this time of year is, “What’s going on in the market?” It’s not just potential buyers and sellers who are curious; homeowners always want reassurance their home’s value is going up. While the state of the real estate market depends on where you live, one thing is for sure: Overall, the real estate market is healthy in most areas.

We often use national real estate numbers to give us a clearer view of our local market. However, real estate is local, and while statistics and predictions help us understand the overall real estate … (0 comments)

nova scotia real estate: Household Debt Solved - Let's Just Go Back in Time - 11/11/10 06:22 AM
Well it's that time of year again.  It's flyer season!  Today, I received get this... 24! I'm not kidding, I counted them.  Poor trees.  But really, what are the chances someone is going to sit there and go through them all?  Who has time for that?  Well, okay, admittedly I did when my son was younger and napping.  It sort of felt like it was my only connection to the outside world when he was an infant.  I'd read the newspaper and go through all the sales flyers seeing what was on sale so I can rationalize purchasing something new.
So now I'm … (5 comments)

nova scotia real estate: I'm More Than Just an MLS Listing! - 02/11/10 12:20 AM
There has been so much written lately regarding the exclusivity of the MLS system that I think the services of a REALTOR® has been lost.  What's missing?  To name but a few:
Objectivity:
Representing a party objectively and in the best interest of that party is extremely valuable.  Selling a house every 5-10 years does not an expert make.  Homeowners are too emotionally attached to their homes to be objective and see their homes as a product to marketed to other target markets.
Online Marketing Expertise:
I like to believe that I offer far more than just the ability to list a property … (4 comments)
