friday music series: Friday Music Series. Well, if we're gonna play with words . . . - 09/16/11 02:24 AM
Friday Music Series.  Well, if we're gonna play with words . . .
Nice job with your entry into the Friday Music Series, CA!  I think you may have won today's bout, but that won't keep me from trying to outdo your efforts.
You know I love words, and this song is so much fun!  Do you remember getting tongue tied trying to use your name when singing this?  One of my favorite memories!
It's Friday, folks -- LET'S DANCE!

friday music series: I'll see your Milli and raise you a "Leader"! - 08/12/11 01:19 AM
I'll see your Milli and raise you a "Leader"!
Oh, CA, CA, CA, what am I going to do with you?  I had planned to return to dancing in the 'Rain with something a little more informative and intelligent.  But your submission to the Friday Music Series has forced me to set aside my pursuit of a more intelligent and enlightening effort and respond immediately.
I'm pretty sure you've won this week, but I must make an effort to undo the damage you have visited upon my psyche --  I therefore dedicate this song via video to wreak havoc upon … (25 comments)

friday music series: You want walking? This is walking! - 07/15/11 12:48 AM
You want walking?  This is walking!
Break my Stride?  You call that a song?  CA, darling, I love you -- but was it really necessary to burn that image into my head?  Yuck!
Fortunately I have been able to find not only a song to erase the ugly, but it's not too hard on the eyes either.  I know this wasn't originally a duet, and Fats Domino is fine on his own.  But imagine how happy I was to find this video with Fats and Ricky Nelson!  Yes, Ricky Nelson -- isn't he cute?
Now get back to work!

friday music series: Forget irritating CA! This weeks song is for Zoe Grace! - 07/08/11 01:03 AM
Forget irritating CA!  This weeks song is for Zoe Grace!
This weeks Friday Music Series song is all for Zoe Grace.  Today is her 8th birthday and in honor of that I've chosen a song by the great Jerry Vale who happens to share the same birthday!  I'm happy to say Zoe has a better appreciation for love songs than her mother does so I think she'll like this one.
I hope you have a WONDERFUL day, Zoe!  I'll be home soon and can't wait to give all the hugs and kisses I've been saving up!  Mimi xoxoxo

friday music series: Oh, my -- it's ugly out there today. Maybe we can brighten things up inside - 07/01/11 02:25 AM
Oh, my -- it's ugly out there today.  Maybe we can brighten things up inside
CA's entry this week for our Friday Music Series is a song by some band called Dire Straits.  I'm sure it has some deep meaning, but for the life of me I can't begin to care.  She also had the nerve to diss Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald, and I had planned to hit back with their classic, 'Indian Love Call'.
But then I had this view on my way to the office.

We've got wildfires burning just north of us in Pender County NC and the smoke … (17 comments)

friday music series: It has been a week, hasn't it CA? - 06/24/11 03:09 AM
It has been a week, hasn't it CA?
Your choice of songs for our Friday Music Series reminded me of a very serious, intense young girl of about 13 and the pains her Mother took to help her get over herself.  Every time I hear this song, I can still hear that young girl protesting, "Stop it!  It's not funny, Mom!  I'm really upset and you singing isn't helping!"  I beg to differ, I think this song, and my singing helped, you just didn't appreciate it at the time.  I imagine one day you will be singing it to Zoe, hopefully she will be … (11 comments)

friday music series: Friday Music Series gets REAL! - 06/17/11 01:18 AM
Friday Music Series gets REAL!
Looks like CA is upping her game. I wear my sunglasses at night? One. Of. The. Most. Ridiculous. Songs. EVER.  EVER!  What did I do to deserve this?  CA, darling, was this trip down memory lane really necessary?
Guess I'll have to counter you with a song from my youth, 1957 to be exact.  A real song of young love.  A song with meaningful lyrics.  Have I ever mentioned that I wore my hair exactly like hers?  You've heard that before?  Wonder where?  You know what's coming, don't you?  Yep, one of your all-time favorites.  Can … (19 comments)

friday music series: You call that a party song? - 06/10/11 12:21 AM
You call that a party song?
Once again, CA is subjecting me to that hideous genre, 80's music.  This week she's re-discovered that Eddie Murphy gem, My Girl Likes to Party All the Time.  Are you kidding me?  You call that a party song?  While I do admit to an appreciation of Eddie's work on Saturday Night Live (anyone remember when Buckwheat was shot?  Or Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood?), his music isn't really on par with his comedic skills.
We're off to The Crystal Coast of NC today and I've brought my own idea of a party song, and it's NOT from … (20 comments)

friday music series: Barry Manilow is too cool! - 06/03/11 12:29 AM
Barry Manilow is too cool!
That Cheeky Assistant of mine has done it again - not only found a song to annoy me, but she's slammin' Barry.  Not standing for it.  Please, Barry was the pianist for the Divine Miss M!  He is too cool!
The truth is, if you can get her to stop long enough to talk to you, she'll tell you she has some good memories of riding in my T-Bird with the top down listening to an 8-track of Barry Manilow.  Believe it or not, she was pretty cute back then singing 'Copacabana', 'I Write the … (23 comments)
