tucson business: Tucson City Council Passes Grand Road Widening Plan - 01/25/09 04:19 AM
Grant Road - one of Tucson's busiest East-West arterial streets, is going to become 6 lanes wide in the future.  Tucson City Council approved plans to add a lane in each direction by a 6-1 vote on January 13th.  The Grant Road Improvement Plan has been in the works since the passage of the RTA (Regional Transportation Authority) plan in May 2006.

tucson business: Employer Sanctions Law And The Tucson Rental Market - 01/27/08 12:49 PM
In a story in today's Arizona Daily Star, reporter Beck Pallack took a look at how Arizona's law enacting sanctions against employers who hire undocumented workers is affecting the rental market in Tucson.  The Legal Arizona Workers Act, which went into effect January 1, 2008, contains enforcement provisions up to suspension of an employer's business license for 10 days with a first offense of hiring unauthorized workers and possible revocation of their business license for a 2nd offense.

Chris Kemmerly and Steve Quinlan announced today that they have purchased the assets of Standard Pacific Homes' Southern Arizona Division.  The purchase included roughly 700 lots ready for building and 70 homes in varying stages of beginning or completion.  Kemmerly & Quinlan have partnered before in several projects through the years, and will operate the company as Miramonte Homes.  Craig Campbell, the former president of the purchased division will serve as president of the new company.
