If You THINK You Can - You're Right? Henry Ford is famously quoted as saying, "Whether you think you can or think you can't - You're Right!" In the childhood rhyme, 'The Little Engine That Could', we seem to find agreement with this idea when the little engine manages to climb the tall hill by saying, over and over "I think I can, I think I can." OK.  I am a proponent of Positive thinking - but not a "NegaPhobe".  
Positive Thinking + Realistic Thinking = Time to Make Some Changes?
Our own Jim Crawford of AR fame wrote an excellent post today on the dangers of practicing POSITIVE THINKING to the point of avoiding realism.  
This post of mine began as a reply to his post, and then became an article in it's own right.

What treasures will you grow today in the garden of your mind and life?
You already know the old saying, "A Man Reaps What He Sows". That sounds like a two step process.  But it's not quite that simple.
There is something that comes in between sowing and reaping. GROWING comes in between sowing and reaping.
During the GROWING stage, a seedling needs to be protected from harm, watered, and fertilized.
When you FOCUS YOUR ATTENTION on your GOALS, you water and fertilize the IDEAS that you have SOWED.
