Driving along the beach front looking out at Pewaukee Lake you wouldn't think of the history and activity that existed there at one point. My grandmother used to tell me of the times they would go and spend the day at Waukesha Beach. It wasn't too long ago that we could always congregate at Calvanos for a Monday night open music party, at least from what I can recollect. My son Spencer and his fishing partner Glenn did the Pewaukee Lake ice fishing contest this weekend in Waukesha County. Once again, Spencer gets his arsenal of favorite lures, poles, varied and assorted snacks and food that Glenn and he will eat while the grueling and strenuous ice contest is under way. Sitting in an ice shanty looking at two open holes takes a certain amount of conviction, pseudo tenacity, and desire and strength that many would not understand Spencer tells me.
