Area residents have always known that Lake Martin is a treasure.  Now it’s official!  Governor Bob Riley and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management have declared that Lake Martin is a Treasured Lake.  This is a new designation created by ADEM and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that will apply to lakes that meet special quality standards for cleanliness and nutrient enrichment.  Actually, the Governor signed an executive order creating the designation Treasured Alabama Lake.  And, Lake Martin is likely the first lake in the state to achieve this status.  While this is great news for Lake Martin, it’s just … (5 comments)
