homesforsalehooveralabama: Selling Your Home - Fill Those Shady Spots With Flowers - 06/21/08 02:41 AM
As you can tell from reading my former blogs, I really like trees.  One "problem" with trees is they create a lot of shade.  Having shade in your yard is GOOD for your electric bill and great for relaxing away from the hot sun, but it can make it difficult to have a lot of blooming flowers.
Several years ago, I went to visit a friend who had a very shady backyard.  All along her fence she had these tall bushes (15') with these beautiful blue flowers.  Each flower was a little smaller than a baseball.  She told me that the … (1 comments)

homesforsalehooveralabama: Lantana Great for the Hot Days of Summer. - 06/20/08 11:05 AM
Yes, Summer is here!  Temperatures in the 90's, and the humidity makes it feel like over 100!  Those plants - such as petunia - that looked so good in May, have to be watered constantly, and even then are beginning to look really tired out. So what about Curb Appeal!!  I think Lantanas are a wonderful choice for our hot summers.  They come in several colors: bright golden yellow, yellow and orange blends and lavender.  The golden variety is a perennial and will come back next summer (not in the spring for those of us who tend to be impatient).

homesforsalehooveralabama: Don't Take Down the Tree - Fix the Sidewalk - 06/11/08 04:10 AM

It is no secret I love trees.  I cried when they started cutting down the trees to widen HWY 150 in Hoover.  Do you remember how the trees used to make a canopy over the road by the Lake Crest subdivision?  It was always 5 degrees cooler when you passed under those trees - not the 100+ temps we drive in now!
The benefits of trees are endless. I have two large trees is my backyard.  One is a cottonwood that gives me the worst case of sinus in the spring - but the tree isn't going anywhere!!

homesforsalehooveralabama: Selling Your Home in Hoover Alabama - Get A Pre-Sale Home Inspection - 05/21/08 08:38 AM
In my blog earlier this week, I mentioned finishing the "honey do" list before putting your house on the market.  Well sometimes you need a little extra help or another set of eyes to help pinpoint what might be wrong with your house.
A Professional pre-sale inspection by a qualified home inspector is a great option.  They have a checklist that they use and can point out things that need attention. Most inspections cost less than $300. Many inspectors take pictures and can give you the detailed report online.
Professional inspections can identify problems that you can then fix before any … (0 comments)

Boy this has been a hectic week!  I don't think I have been in bed before 11:00 any night this week - which for me is WAY too late!   So, for all those folks who think the Real Estate market is slow right now I say WHAT are you thinking!!
All this week, though, next to my porch between the driveway and entrance has been this beautiful rose.  Every day as I pass by with my laptop and files in hand, I am reminded to "Stop and Smell the Roses".  This has helped me to take a deep breath and appreciate … (0 comments)
