sunlit drones: Second Active Rain Meetup in the East Valley!!

Last week Suzanne and I attended the second Active Rain Meetup in the East Valley once again hosted by Brian England!
The event was held at a "MAD Greens" restaurant - part of a chain of "salad restaurants" that has multiple locations in the Phoenix metro area, this was our second experience in dining there.
This time I opted for a "Create Your Own" salad: Romaine, Grilled Steak, Piri Piri Shrimp, Apples, Walnuts, Blue Cheese, Eggs and Blue Cheese Dressing! I'll have that again please!

While the numbers of Short Sales and REOs in Phoenix are way down from the staggering levels following the market crash about 10 years ago, there are still some properties "under water" and some that have received a Notice of Default, the first step in the process that will result in the Trustee's Sale on the courthouse steps.
It's always sad to see people give up and walk away from a home, particularly when alternatives exist which may well be better for them and their lien holders.

This is our entry for the November Contest "Thankfulness - An AR Challenge" hosted by Jim Cheney.
Suzanne and I have an unwritten "policy" to show those we encounter - whether clients, associates, vendors, etc - that we sincerely appreciate them.
The way this appreciation manifests itself can be in one of many ways.
Sometimes a handshake, looking them in the eye, and sincerely thanking them for being our client, or providing great service is all it takes.
Other times we may treat our client to a meal - although more often than not it is us on the receiving end of such a treat!

This is our entry into the "Fourth Annual Pay It Forward ActiveRain Challenge For November 2017" hosted by Belinda Spillman.
Sometimes when hearing the words "Pay It Forward" the image of someone in desparate need is conjured up as the recipient of kindness from another.
Yes - that is one example of paying it forward - but "paying it forward" can take many different shapes and forms, and does not always need to be a "charitable" effort.
Suzanne and I donate to several worthwhile charities.

Today is the penulitmate day of the 12 Days of Thanks Giving.
Penultimate.
The last but one.
But is it really?
That implies that once tomorrow has come and gone, Giving Thanks ceases until "the next time".
For me, Giving Thanks is a daily event.
There is always something or someone that each day brings to be thankful for.
I'm very much a glass half full (rather than a glass half empty) individual.

Farmer's Market have been, and continue to be, an integral part of our "be healthy" plan.
Our current favorite is the Uptown Farmers Market on Wednesday Mornings at Central and Bethany Home in Phoenix.
One of our favorite vendors there is Bob McClendon's "McClendon's Select" which is a a certified organic farm based in Peoria, Arizona.
"ORGANIC PRODUCE… GROWN ONLY WITH NATURE'S HELP".

This is our Giving Thanks - Day 9 - entry into "12 Days of Thanks Giving 2017 - ActiveRain Challenge" hosted by Debbie Reynolds.
While my eating regimen is for the most part "low carb" or "carb free" these days, on the rare occasion that I venture into carb territory I am extremely thankful that there are some great artisan breads out there.
My favorite, which I discovered three years ago, is Noble Bread. They make many varieties - my preferred being their standard bearer "Country" loaf.
We found them at a Farmer's Market. You have to go early - they consistently sell out!

Today is a day to look around and be thankful for the great weather we have here in Arizona (for the most part!).
With sunny or partly sunny days averaging 296 per year, and even though it can get hot in the summer - it's a dry heat!
Suzanne and I enjoy sitting outside in our back yard that backs up to a wildlife protected area that is home to woodpeckers, grackels, ground squirrels, rabbits, cardinals, quail and the list goes on.

Yesterday Suzanne and I attended the Keller Williams 2017 Southwest Regional Inspiration Breakfast. There were four speakers, including:
Jon & Shara Maxwell of Sunshine Acres Children's Home, Inc.
Jacki Taylor of Save the Family
Dawn Hocking of The Centers for Habilitation (TCH)
and finally Michael Somsan, a totally blind tri-athlete.
Michael's story is remarkable, having been shot in the head in the line of duty and losing his sight in 1995, going on to become an attorney and a tri-athlete.

Today the focus is on health.
This past August I made a breakthrough in my quest for health and weight loss.
My health has steadily improved since the emergency surgery just over 3 years ago - in fact - it's better now than it has been in 15 years.
The breakthrough was experimenting with a low carb diet - now a "way of eating".
The results were immediate and dramatic.
