grand traverse: Buyers Beware! Restrictive Covenants
- 01/28/08 03:21 AM
Buyers coming to Northern Michigan looking to get a few acres to live out there dream, need to make sure there are no deed restrictions attached to the property. Restrictive covenants are becoming a lot more common in the Grand Traverse area. Example: Joe Smith splits his 40 acres into 4- 10 acres parcels and keeps one for himself. He does not want any manufactured homes on the other properties or live stock. Currently the municipality allows such use. So he registers these restrictions with the new parcels to supersede the the municipality. Buyer beware this is legal and very common. Your new neighbor may have horses (2 comments)
