Buyers coming to Northern Michigan looking to get a few acres to live out there dream, need to make sure there are no deed restrictions attached to the property. Restrictive covenants are becoming a lot more common in the Grand Traverse area. Example: Joe Smith splits his 40 acres into 4- 10 acres parcels and keeps one for himself. He does not want any manufactured homes on the other properties or live stock. Currently the municipality allows such use. John Devres of Paradise, Grand Traverse County is 75 years old and has been collecting cans for the past 4 years. He has collected more than 100,000 cans and contributed over $10,000.00 to the athletic department of Paradise.
