first time homebuyer: Wow, how time fly's when you're having fun!
- 07/22/16 03:28 AM
I started using Activerain to help generate more leads and to establish credibility in my marketplace. At first, I was nervous about writing but then I quickly got the hang of it and really enjoyed blogging. Then what do you know I start getting more leads and I'm super busy and don't have as much time on my hands!
Well it's time I come back and get on a regular scheduling with my blogging on Active rain. From today on, I commit to submitting a blog post at least once per week.
I'm glad to be back!

first time homebuyer: Let Uncle Sam Help Pay Your Down Payment!
- 01/20/16 07:54 AM
The February / March real estate rush is approaching. This is the time of year many people anxiously await so they can purchase a house. Yes, you can use the tax refund check you receive and put it towards the down payment and closing cost for your new home!
If you are thinking about buying a home, now is the time to do it! With interest rates on the rise, you should buy sooner rather than later. For the first time in almost a decade, the Feds have raised the rates .25 percent. Although the increase doesn't make a big difference right (3 comments)
After you've found a Realtor to work with, discussed your financial situation with a lender and received your pre-approval letter, you are ready to begin getting out and looking at houses. Hopefully by this point you've already researched areas where you'd like to live and the type of home you're interested in.
Schedule a meeting with your Realtor to discuss your wants and needs in your new home so they can begin sending listings that fit your criteria.

For many first-time home buyers, the difference between a home inspection and an appraisal is confusing. Are home Buyers required to have a home inspection and an appraisal when purchasing a house?
It is encouraged for Buyers to have a home inspection done on the property they are planning on purchasing, however it is not a requirement. The home inspection is for the benefit of the Buyer to determine improvements, repairs and replacements that may need to be done on the house. The inspection alerts the Buyers to any potential issues that exist which an untrained (15 comments)
I just read an article about the use of technology among the millennial generation. Most millennial's have had the convenience of technology at their dispose their entire lives. They cannot image life without it. When I have conversations with my children about "when I was younger," it seems like we are from two different planets. (I'm sure our parents felt the same way about us!) The thought of using a stationary rotary phone is not something our children wish to even fathom. Yes, when I was younger I had to ASK to use the phone!
I've said this many times before but when my own sister did it, I realized I had to write about it. Just in case you're wondering, I was not her Realtor since she lives in Florida and I live in Maryland. However, the Realtor she was working with is someone I've referred to my family a couple years ago.
When my sister told me what happened I gasped and yelled, "Don't you read anything I put on Facebook!" I was just kidding, kinda :-) After this conversation (54 comments)
I have a client who we've become very fond of one another. I sold her home when she was going through a divorce two years ago which was a tough time. Now she is ready to get back in the game and become a homeowner again! My client is very specific about what she is looking for in her next home. As she says, this will be the last home she ever buys... We've gone out to see several houses, but we have realized buying new construction may be the way to go. (7 comments)
