facebook: If You Comment, Do I Get Implied Permission To Use Your Photo? - 08/17/14 05:56 PM
So If You Comment On My Post, Do I Get Implied Permission To Use Your Photo On FaceBook?
There have been many changes to ActiveRain and Facebook of late, so I'm not sure when this happened. If you link your posts to Facebook you may have come across this already. Here is my dilemma.
If I write a post here on ActiveRain there are images that go with it. My profile picture, photos in the post, even imagines in the signature area. In the past, I had some options on Facebook with these images. After linking, I had the … (36 comments)

Someone Got Hacked on Facebook – Photo Tagging Fun
I got tagged in a photo on Facebook, and I know that I wasn’t alone. Photos were posted to my page that I can delete. Since I was tagged and not included in the photo, I thought that I’d add myself to one of them.  J
Sure, you know me as a General Contractor who specializes in Dry Rot and Water Damage Repair, but I like to think that I have a life outside of my work; maybe even sitting courtside at an NBA game with a woman in … (20 comments)

facebook: What If My Facebook Page Could Talk? Fun with Facebook Page - 06/30/11 03:48 PM
I just want people to like me!
I posted, You Read My Facebook Page Every Day, But You Still Haven't Liked Me?, and was wondering what it would be like if Facebook could talk. If Facebook Pages could actually help the viewer, maybe I would be "liked" more. Wouldn't that be fun, a page that could walk the viewer though how to comment, or going to a link? That would never happen.
Maybe we just need to let people know that we are on Facebook, and have a page if they are interested.
Did you like … (19 comments)

facebook: You Read My Facebook Page Every Day, But You Still Haven't Liked Me? - 06/29/11 07:57 PM

I was chatting with a friend on Facebook the other day and she said that she reads my Facebook Page regularly. She notices when I haven't posted in a while, and lets me know. So I was scrolling through my "Likes", people that follow you on your Facebook Pages, and she wasn't there.
I mentioned this to her and she said something to the effect, "I don't need to "like" you to follow what you are posting. True, but it sure would be easier, I thought to myself.
Maybe I just find it easier on these social sites to … (16 comments)

facebook: Who Needs Testimonials? - 05/30/11 02:21 AM
I like to think of testimonials as silent salesmen. We can put them where they can be seen by those who want to read them. Testimonials are often a stronger sales pitch than you can give yourself. If I tell you that I'm the best dry rot and water damage repair guy on the planet, you may be skeptical. However, if Mary Smith says,
"I asked around and Tromler Construction seemed to be the company to call. I'm glad I did. He was thorough, clean and did the work quickly. I would recommend him to anyone."
You may not even know Mary, … (14 comments)

facebook: Lose The Ugly URL On Your Facebook Page - Get A Username! - 03/26/11 09:05 PM
Okay so you have a Facebook Page and you have some fans of that page. I believe the current minimum is 25 fansbefore you are eligible for a username. So when you first sign up for your Facebook page the url will look something like this one.
This is not the most attractive looking URL to have, looking at it you have no idea who it belongs to. The short URL would be more appropriate for business cards, stationary, web site links, etc. This business appears to be qualified, and if so, the new URL could look like this … (5 comments)

facebook: How social are you? - 03/17/11 04:54 PM
Social media sites like Facebook has reached far and wide in a short amount of time. I like Facebook mainly because it is easy just to share ideas, get quick updates on my friends (without having to chat endlessly - just kidding. ) Anyway, I noticed something odd today on Facebook.

A friend of mine had a birthday (Facebook reminded me) so I posted on his wall "Happy Birthday Larry". I then scrolled down to see other posts and on that first page I saw a different post from me. What! Did I post in the middle of the night? Kind … (7 comments)

facebook: Marketing Takes Time, But Nothing Happens Until Something Happens - 03/06/11 09:37 AM
The need to be online and marketing yourself is very important today. The reasons are many: people are doing more online searches than ever, finding someone locally, and referred by a friend to name a few. The challenge is where do I want to be in the social media mix. That answer probably depends on who you are marketing to.
Your need to be on MySpace is not great if your target market are senior citizens. Where does your target audience go online? Getting on Facebook is probably a good start. It's easy to get started, and you will quickly … (2 comments)

facebook: Show The Viewer What To Do - 02/15/11 06:09 PM

You get that satisfied customer, they are "tickled-pink" by your service, and they would probably do anything to show their appreciation for a job well done. But they don't know how! Many of us are on countless social, networking, and business sites getting the word out about our services. For us, we can think of several ways to "put in a good word". We can "like" a page, add a comment, "link" with someone, "rate, "follow", or even "tag" someone.
Sometimes it is difficult to describe to someone what they can do to help. I have found that maybe … (4 comments)

facebook: If I Look For What You Have To Offer, Will I Find You? - 01/28/11 04:50 PM

The idea of marketing on the internet was strange at first. So many different sites and networking groups to choose from, and a lot to learn. But by jumping in and checking it out, things got a little easier. The more a did, the more I tried new things.
The one thing that is clear today, is this....
If you market yourself in a bunch of different places people will find you.
I'm not talking about the people who are looking for you specifically, they probably can already find you. I want the guy who has a dry rot … (8 comments)
