Sure it may not be up there with the major Holidays, but it ranks pretty high for me. I’m looking forward to getting a special Ice Cream in Placerville, Ca on the National Ice Cream Day.
Does anyone remember eating The Zoo from Farrell’s Ice Cream?
Building Supplies aren't just for Contractors - Diamond Pacific.
For those of us in the building and repair profession, it is vital to have suppliers who can get the best materials in a timely fashion. Does your Placerville building have dry rot? You may have found the damaged wood yourself, it may have come up in a termite report, or a property inspector pointed it out to you. In any case, once the rot has started, it will only get worse if not corrected. What is dry rot? The term Dry Rot is used to describe the decay of wood by certain types of fungus. These rots weaken the structural strength of the wood, and can lead to problems in homes and other properties. In Placerville, dry (38 comments)
Controversial Historical Landmark in Placerville. Not new to the local residents.
Do you find this Hangman’s noose offensive? Many do. Is it a part of Placerville history? Yes it is.
That is the controversy behind this dummy in the Hangman’s Noose. The background is very extensive but here are the main points behind this Historical Landmark no. 141. First let’s look at the official description of the landmark.
NO. 141 HANGMAN'S TREE In the days of 1849, when this city was called Hangtown, vigilantes executed many men for various crimes. This was the site of Hay Yard, (68 comments)
Bricks – A restaurant on Main Street in Placerville, Ca
We got a chance to get out to dinner tonight in Placerville, Ca. The restaurant we chose was Bricks. The restaurant is named after the old brick structure that houses the business. The menu listed a large number of choices. The food was in the $8 – 10 range for a burger and fries, sandwiches were similar, and the large dinners $15 – 20 range.
I had the Mario burger with fries. The burger was a ½ pound Angus beef burger, with mushrooms, bacon, onions and a (12 comments)
It was another beautiful day in El Dorado County. While driving through Greenstone Country I had to take a quick photo of one of the small lakes in the community. The colors were just amazing today. The clear blue skies, lush green landscape, and deep blue water needed to be captured. Greenstone Country in Placerville, California
I had a long day working in the yard today. It involved a lot of burning of tree trimmings and dead wood. It was hot, hard work but needed to be done. The window of opportunity to have a burn pile in El Dorado County will be ending soon, this had to be done. We hope to get one more good burn in before summer. During a short break, I got a chance to see the signs of spring.
I love the spring time; plants are blooming, things are drying up, and we can start to work on those outside projects. But with the spring weather comes the allergy season. If you suffer from allergies you know what it is like.
Top Ten Tips for Finding and Hiring a General Contractor in Georgetown, CA:

The day stated off with a colorful beginning, and ended with cloudy, overcast sky.
At sunrise everything is luminous but not clear. It is those we live with and love and should know who elude us. You can love completely without complete understanding. Norman Maclean

placerville: Is your cat this curious? - Photo
- 04/01/12 07:05 AM
Is your cat this curious? Sometimes you just can’t get done what you need to do, because the pet just needs attention. When trying to get a photo of the moisture rising in a valley in the foothills of the Sierras this week, Mr. Kitty just had to get in the act.
A late rain today, reminded me that the rainy season is not over yet. I was driving home just in time to see the sunset below the clouds, just above the horizon; a great way to end the work day. Of course that does not mean the day is through.

placerville: Is That a Drain line? This Can't Be Good
- 03/05/12 04:28 PM
Okay, so I’m looking at a property to give the owners an estimate for repairs in Placerville, and I see the darnedest thing. I am looking at the back side of the building and I see this galvanizes pipe poking out of the building. It is not strapped and is loose to the touch. It is connected to some flexible rubber tubing going away from the property. So I followed it.
In the middle of the yard is a puddle of soapy water. What? This can’t be good. Apparently the pipe at the house is the clothes washer drain line. (52 comments)
Water Damage Repair in Placerville - Before and After
Early in the Water Damage Repair project, things can look a bit overwhelming. There will be damaged materials, discolored surfaces, and maybe even some dry rot involved; all of this can be corrected by a professional.
After correcting the source of the problem, the rebuilding can begin. You will be amazed how quickly the change will occur. Once the new building materials have been installed, and the finishing touches applied, you will be pleased with how things have turned out.
I got tagged in a photo on Facebook, and I know that I wasn’t alone. Photos were posted to my page that I can delete. Since I was tagged and not included in the photo, I thought that I’d add myself to one of them. J
Sure, you know me as a General Contractor who specializes in Dry Rot and Water Damage Repair, but I like to think that I have a life outside of my work; maybe even sitting courtside at an NBA game with a woman in (20 comments)
After the recent ActiveRain system update, it seems that I am both the #1 and #2 Top Rated ActiveRain Member in Placerville. Maybe all that hard work has paid off.
So “Cheers” to hard work and the blessings that it produces!
I learned something new by visiting the Video Tutorials section of ActiveRain University. I watch a video on Communities and saw how to add a community to the site. Here is what I did to add my community. Click the Hyper-Local Pages box, and then fill in the information in the State, County, and City drop downs. Once you do that, you will be prompted for a neighborhood. If your neighborhood is not there – Add it yourself!
Click on the Add Neighborhood link, and a new window will open. Click on the screen (9 comments)
I don’t know about you but I hate throwing things away that still have value. As a contractor I accumulate building materials, parts, tools, and other things that are perfectly good but I do not use regularly. What do I do with this stuff? For example, if I were to do a small renovation job in a bathroom, I would have some extra flooring, tiles, maybe the old cabinets, or some
specialty tool. If I still had a use for the items, and plan on using it in (18 comments)
With the weather being so good lately, the sunrises and sunsets seem to be picture worthy every day. Today’s high temperature of 64 ties the record for this date in history. I was able to get an early photo this morning of this ever-changing palette. Hope your day was just as beautiful.
