One last hike before we go?

The one phrase that we have heard while in the desert that stands out is this, “If you are going to do that, start early!” It didn't matter what it was that we were planning, the advise was always the same – start early before it gets hot.

If you live in an area that is hot during the summer, you can associate I'm sure. So we did do a bunch of things early, and had a great time doing it. We had time for one last early walk … (10 comments)

Look Who's Joining the Morning Meditation

While spending some quiet time in the morning, doing some meditation and reading, I discovered this lizard on the wall nearby. I'm told that they can bring strength and if asked can help the sick. Maybe he was there for a reason.

They say it's a clear day in Ontario, CA

I don't get to fly into the Southern California area all that often but today I did. As we landed, the pilot said it was a clear day in Ontario. As we got into the car it seemed a bit smoggy outside, but maybe that is their idea of a clear day.

A Room With a View? Of Course!

Golf Course that is!

If you have ever been to the Palm Desert, Palm Springs area of Riverside County, you know how many golf course there are to choose from here. I wouldn't know how to even begin to count how many there are but they are everywhere!

Pictured here is the Shadow Ridge Golf Course. I think it's the 16th hole.

Signs of Life in the Desert

Okay, it's not so bad here in Palm Desert, only 102 this afternoon. Looks like a slow introduction to the warmer days ahead. After checking into the beautiful room on the Shadow Ridge Golf Course we saw signs of life outside. This little bunny seems comfortable going about his business.

Do You Know That Is Hot In Palm Desert This Time Of Year?

When telling friends and family of are trip to Palm Desert today I’m asked. “Do you know that it’s hot there this time of year?”
Yes, I’m well aware of that. In fact we were there the same week four years ago and it was hot. We had a blast and wanted to come back again. Today it that day. Looking forward to a great week in the desert.

Thought We'd Get Away To A Place
Even Hotter Than Home

The temperatures have been pretty warm here in Placerville the last few weeks but my wife and I will be getting away to a place that is even hotter. We have been to Palm Desert before and enjoyed our stay there on the golf course. We will be heading down tomorrow for some hot summer days.

We like it HOT!

vacation: Where would you go right now? - 05/04/14 03:57 PM

It's time to start thinking about a vacation getaway to somewhere. I'm not feeling like I need one just yet but I trying something new. I want to take a vacation before I feel like I have to take a vacation!
Maybe you can relate to that! Why get to a point where you are miserable before taking some time off? where would you go right now?

vacation: Wordless Quiet Time - Photo - 03/13/14 04:54 PM

There is something about the setting sun that is very tranquil and mind clearing for me. the colors and the surrounding terrain or water all play a big part in the whole thing. Each one is different and unique in its own way; and it happens every day of the week.

Ohhh My, I Think I Need A Vacation From Vacation.

Vacations can be a busy time all on its own, things to do and places to go. It is all fun stuff but there is a draw back sometimes; I get tired. :)

Some vacations are just to get away and do nothing; others are for getting around and checking stuff out in that area of the world.

I Don't Want To Leave San Diego Yet!

Do you ever go away on a vacation and you just don't have enough time to get to see all the things you want to see, and do the things that you want to do? This trip has been that way for me.

Granted it wasn't really a true vacation, I came here for a greater purpose. Spending a limited amount of time only makes me want to come back to this wonderful community in Southern California.

vacation: Thinking about getting away. - 02/15/14 04:17 PM

I was thinking about an upcoming vacation in Southern California that we are taking in the first week of May. It has been a while since we have gotten down there. I think it is good to get away once in a while. It doesn’t always have to be some big elaborate trip, we just need a breather once in a while.

vacation: If vacations are to recharge, this was a good one. - 06/09/13 06:21 AM

If vacations are to recharge, this was a good one.

We all vacation for different reasons, I like to recharge. Working a lot of hours, week after week, can be a drain on our ability to continue working at a higher level. We need to get away and recharge. I got to do that this past week or so.

vacation: Can a Contractor Get Away For A Summer Vacation? - 05/16/12 05:47 PM
This is an entry for the Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul Group Contest! | Fun in the Sun While the Business Still Runs!  Join in on the Challenge!

The construction industry can be a very personal relationship. While the construction team may be well qualified and a good representation of the contractor; sometimes it is difficult for the contractor to be away from the project. Imagine agreeing to have a contractor do a $50,000 project and then find out the contractor will be away on vacation.

Of course, the contractor may have his own concerns. He may have full faith … (14 comments)

vacation: Moped, white knuckles, and a loaf of bread - 01/31/12 11:48 PM

Moped, white knuckles, and a loaf of bread

When you go on vacation, people who have been there already have a list of things that you must do. I appreciate that, I don’t want to leave and find out I missed a great opportunity to see or do something special. This list can include some “off the wall” stuff too, those are the adventures that we like to squeeze in.

Before leaving California, a friend had told us about this remote place that makes the best banana bread.  The place was called Julie’s; I saw a picture of … (16 comments)

vacation: I Had To Travel 1,000 Miles To See An Eagle In The Wild - 08/28/11 06:49 PM
I don't know about you, but I have never seen an eagle in the wild until recently. I've seen pictures and videos of the beautiful bird but never in person. On a recent vacation to Alaska, from a cruise ship I was able to get a video using a zoom feature.
The video starts as we aproach a small island and from a great distance an eagle is spotted in a tree with a nest. The eagle shot is a little fuzzy because of the distance, but it still shows the eagle in the tree over the nest.

vacation: Simple Beauty - 03/03/11 03:21 PM

My wife and I recently traveled to Seattle, Wa. They plants there seemed to all be in full bloom at the time. Beautiful flowers and shrubs and trees, it was like living in a greenhouse without the heat. Being from California we have beautiful landscapes, the types of plants are just a little different up north.
Hope you enjoy the picture.
