Nature in Florida - The Lantana Plant The Lantana plant starts out innocently as a $2.97 plant from the local diy store as this one did. I always have Lantana around to feed the butterflies, bees and hummers. See my previous post about the Tiger Swallowtail. This one was purchased because who can resist this sales person? Nature in Florida - The Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly The Tiger Swallowtail butterfly isn’t seen around as much as the Monarchs and Sulphers so I was really excited when I saw this one on my Lantana bush. It was hard getting the pictures because butterflies don’t stay still very long especially this one, but we did it (Craig took one of them too). It was such a bright day that the yellow color shows as white but he is yellow and black-just like a Tiger. Life is good if you have butterflies to watch in New Port Richey-Florida. Nature’s jewels flying through and stopping to sip our pentas. We always have lots of pentas and lantana to keep the butterflies and hummingbirds happy.We enjoyed one summer raising and releasing Monarch butterflies. I will have to find some of the pictures for you. It was a fascinating experience and rewarded us tremendously when we could release them. They zoomed back and forth and entertained us--sometimes as many as 30 or more.
