orchids: Happy Red Orchid Saturday - 03/06/15 11:33 PM
Happy Red Orchid Saturday

This is my Mother's Day Orchid. No, Mother's Day hasn't slipped past you yet. This was a Mother's Day Orchid from back about 3 years ago. The color is so intense and there are always a bunch of blossoms; and they last for the longest time.

I really do enjoy all orchids but this one is so pretty and special. So I hope this makes you happy just to look at her.

 Happy Red Orchid Saturday!

Monday Morning Orchid In New Port Richey, FL

I looked out my kitchen window this morning and guess what awaited me.  We have been having crazy weather: monsoon rain, scary winds, and cold temps so I didn't expect to see any flowers much less an orchid.
We keep our orchids outside; when it's really cold (freezing temps) we bring them into the garage but if it in the 30's and above freezing, Craig leaves them outside. I was very surprised to wake up to this lovely smiling at me.

I hope you find her as enchanting … (22 comments)

orchids: The Lady In Red - My Orchid - 02/07/14 01:22 AM
The Lady In Red - My Orchid; I don't know what her real name is; lost the tag but she's so beautiful and has so many blossoms that just had to share her with you. I just call her The Lady In Red. I think it fits, don't you?

I think she bloomed in honor of the Olympics. I'm going to enjoy every minute of both.

Orchid Sunday in New Port Richey-Florida Okay, she opened up on Saturday but I didn’t have time to upload her picture so here she is on Sunday. This is one of our newer orchids and she’s really pretty. Orchids are so beautiful and fairly easy to grow; you just can't overwater them. They thrive on neglect. If you would like more information about how to grow them; just email Craig Weidman at homesbytoni@gmail.com The American Orchid Society has lots of good info on it's website and pictures too. www.aos.org There are lots of good local orchid shows so keep an eye … (16 comments)

Wandering through Home Depot in Port Richey, last weekend (I spend a lot of time in garden shops), I saw this lovely orchid. Devil or Angel - What do you see? Ordinary or Extraordinary

I'm always amazed at how different the camera's views are from mine. This lovely orchid looked just like any other orchid until I uploaded the picture and noticed the center image. What do you think? Is it a devil or angel orchid? I think it looks like a mischievous kid. These guys are blooming too but they turned out to be ordinary orchids. If you can consider any orchids ordinary.

We stopped at an Orchid Show in a New Port Richey neighborhood near by, and I was surprised at the amount and variety of Orchids at the show since it was a local club, not a regional or district club.
It was the day before Valentine’s Day! As luck would have it, this beautiful lady followed us home ;)   PS: I will post more Orchids soon.   Posts you may have missed. orchids: White Orchids for You-Enjoy - 01/05/11 07:08 AM
As many of you know, my husband grows Orchids (and lots of other stuff), and I wanted to share with you this lovely plant. This picture was taken a few years ago but we still have the plant and it still blooms beautifully.

Orchids are not so hard to grow as people think; he has no trouble. He has them hanging outside under a tree, waters them once a week, fertilizes when he remembers, and look what they do for him. We do take them into the garage during cold spells (all 35 of them :)

orchids: An Orchid for Christmas - 12/22/10 11:53 PM
My husband, Craig, raises Orchids-or maybe I should say he lets them grow; They really don't need a lot of attention. He has about 35 of them: all kinds, colors, shapes and every month one or two bloom for us. This one apparently wants to be a Christmas orchid (like a Christmas Cactus).  Enjoy!

orchids: Easter Bloom-Another Pretty Orchid-Happy Easter! - 04/03/10 08:46 AM
New Port Richey-Timber Greens- Another one of Craig's orchids bloomed in time for Easter. I don't know the name of this one either but it is lovely so who care's.
Another sign of Spring's arrival: We had a 4.5 ft  gator walk across the golf course and slide into the pond. Luckily he was too small to grab the 2 mallards in the pond (I hate when that happens :(Lots of plants blooming and we have two hummingbirds already. Yippee, Spring is here.

orchids: Happy Easter Orchid for you. - 03/30/10 11:23 AM
Craig grows Orchids. This is one of my favorites because it always blooms around Easter and it is Easter colors. I don't know the name of it; it was given to us by a customer who was moving back "up north" and couldn't take the orchids with her. I just love the way it looks. We have another bloom that is going to open up soon on the same plant. If anyone knows the name, please let me know. I was thinking of just calling it Easter Bunny. :D
I wish you all a Happy Easter.
